Will the video flood my network?

AXIS 221 Network Camera

A network camera has a 100BaseTX network port

This will normally provide 0.15 – 15 Mbps per stream/viewer.

Max network load is approximately 20 Mbps.

The switch has 100BaseTX network port

The theoretical backplane capacity is 9.6 Gbps

This equals 6400 separate video streams

The switch has a 1000BaseT uplink network port

This port has the capacity of 1 Gbps

This equals 666 separate video streams

The backbone switch has 1000BaseT network ports

The theoretical backplane capacity is 101 Gbps

This equals 67333 separate video streams

The NVR has a 1000BaseT network port

This equals 666 separate video streams
