What will we be doing?1. Tour Tech City2. Attend London Technology Week3. Visit creative hubs, co-working spaces, and

accelerators4. Meet and be mentored by London's startup

entrepreneurs5. Create and critique pop culture technologies6. Pitch your ideas to the London tech community

What are the course objectives?1. To describe how disruption and innovation create

communication technologies

2. To apply critical media literacy and computational thinking skills to analyze communication technologies

What are the course objectives?3. To identify how technology is socially constructed

and exists in tension with ethics, sustainability, ability, sexuality, gender, race, and class

4. To create a new communication technology

5. To communicate effectively and informatively about communication technology

What are the assignments?1. Readings on technology2. Online Exam3. Reflection essay4. Group projects5. Pitch a new tech to the community

How will COMM 439 count for credit?

1. Upper division elective2. COMM 490 if you’ve already taken
