Technology of Stamen Removal in Pomegranate Dr. Asgari director of Research Institute of Plant Protection said this
institute is ready to concede the technologi‐cal knowledge of stamen removal to a suit‐able company. He added one of the effective ways to reduce the damage of attacking worm is to prevent the spawning Of this pest in the fruit. This apparatus encom‐passes the new features of low weight, no need of electricity or battery and low price
and saving time has great efficiency and this brands is presented as “ Tofa”.
Increasing Import and Export of Medicinal Plants
The director general of medicinal and ornamental plants in Jihad‐e‐Agriculture Ministry reported of 20% increase of import and export of me‐dicinal and ornamental plants in the first 8 month of recent year comparing to the previous. He said 20 million dollars was the amount of export and 4,000,049 were the acreage. The provinces of Kerman, Sistan and Balooch‐estan, Southern Khorasan and Khorasan‐e‐Razavi are the produc on areas of medicinal plants. Annually 65,876 tons of medicinal plants are producing in Iran. Global exporta on is 123 billion dollars, Iran’s contribu on is only 15000 tons with 47 million dollars value.
Cryogenic Grinding Technology For the first time in Iran Dr. Mahmoudi Najafi and Dr. Bashiri researchers in scien‐tific and Industrial organization in Iran implemented cryogenic grinding technol‐ogy. Research show that the heat created in the ordinary mills reinforce oxidation reactivity in presence of oxygen. These reactions leads to dissolution of vita‐mins, enzymes, volatiles and many other
active ingredients in plants. Cryogenic grinding is one of the developed technologies in medicinal plants industry. The part of plant which is needed is grind in –196 ° C liquid nitrogen and then a homogenous powder is ob‐tained from that part of plant called totom.

Creating Industry of Aloe vera Processing in Boushehr Deputy of Plants Improvements in Jihad‐e– Agriculture of Boushehr province stated that this area is the pole of cultivation and promotion of Aloe vera in Iran. He said we hope to develop cultivation of this plant with the assistant of private sector investment. M. B. Manochehri concluded that now Aloe vera is cul vated in 100 hectares in Boushehr and has 2000 tons of leave produc‐tion. At the moment there are two nurseries for producing Aloe vera shoots In Boushehr and Dashti.
International University of Traditional and
Islamic Medicine

Geranmayepour in Medical university of Kashan said this university with support of Health Ministry and Dr. Kheirandish and with 350 species of medicinal and ornamental plants is going to be established. He emphasized on fortification, support and investment in this matter.
Botanical Garden in Abadan
Deputy of urban services of Abadan pointed out that botanical garden is a place where native and non na‐tive plants in open space and greenhouse is culti‐vated. He added existence of such places has an im‐portant role in various research aspects as horticul‐ture, public education and familiarize people with importance of medicinal plants and their preserva‐on. He concluded that this garden has a total area of

produced and it will be economically profitable. In Iran we only know Salvia officinalis and Salvia sclarea and use them, also we know medicinal proper es of 55 different species of Salvia. Are they applicable? Or is their medici‐nal effects less than known species. In traditional medi‐cine of Iran we never used Satureja khuzestanica and only used S. hortensis. This plant was first iden fied 27 years ago by me in Khuzestan and later we found its medici‐nal properties. At the end asked how do you identify a species? Dr. Mozafarian said the responsibility of a botanist is to identify new species in the nature. The perquisite for this work is full dominance on botanical science. Plants talk to you in the nature and transfer their infor‐mation to us if you don’t understand then collect it and check the botanical books and find them, if you didn’t find any information in the books then it is probably a new species and needs careful inves ga on. Hitherto I have introduced 80 species of plant and 2 new genus to the world ;however, a new species was named after me recently as Mozaffariania.

Dr. Mozafarian was born in 1953 in Damavand. He was graduated from Tehran university . He has been a scien fic member in bot‐any research division in Research Ins tute of Forests and Range‐
lands for 28 years. Dr. Mozafarian has iden fied 55 thousands of plant species. He has published dif‐ferent books to introduce various species and their scientific names. Flora of different provinces were published by him. Recently he published a book called “ Methods for identifying Umbellferae Plants” In Persian which was written by him in Eng‐lish previously. Dictionary of Botany is published in five different languages of Persian, English, Ger‐man, French and Latin. He believes we have to work on the na ve plants which no scien fic works has been done. Recently more than 250 number of species have been identified by him and he plans to work on the medicinal characteristics of them. When asked based on your specialization what is your economical suggestion for medicinal plants? He said: When we work on our native plants accu‐rately then we can sell our knowledge. For exam‐ple in Baloochestan area people use Otostegia per‐sica for curing Malaria. When we work conse‐quently we see the results and then a medicine is
