1) Turn your phone on silent/vibrate when you go to a restaurant or sit down to eat at someone’s home.

2) If you are expecting an urgent call during dinner, let your date/guests know up front and explain why it is necessary to answer.

3) If you do get an urgent call, excuse yourself from the table to take the call (but stay in view). Make the call as quick as possible.

4) Do NOT check your phone at the dinner table if it vibrates. If you MUST check it, do so discreetly under the table.
