It is important to obtain a good teamwork across the organization in relation to working tasks, registered information and suppliers / customers of internal, leased out and any leased in circuits.

Telemator is central to these factors.

Point cardfilePoint cardfile

In the Point cardfile you can register the whole specter of fixed points such as:

• Telecom room, equipment room, communication room, nodes, sites

• Distributors (both outdoor and indoor)

• Patch panel

• Workplace contacts

• Deducting manhole (fiber, copper)

• Straight splices (1:1)

Equipment cardfile levelEquipment cardfile level

Level 4 – connections w/signal on each port

Level 3 –ports on printed circuit board

Four levels are used to register any kind of equipment :

Level 2 – printed circuit board

Level 1 – general information

Cable cardfileCable cardfile

In the Cable card file, you can register all types of cables, such as:

• Copper cables based on pairs

• Copper cables based on single conductors (coax)

• Fiber cables

You can also terminate the cable ends in equipments, distributors, contacts or patch panels

Circuit cardfileCircuit cardfileAll of the network’s circuits are registered in the Circuit card file.

A circuit is also called a line, a signal path, a connection or a loop.

Examples of circuits:• Telephone circuit

• Data circuit

• 622 Mb SDH circuit

• 155 Mb ATM circuit

Customer cardfileCustomer cardfile

In the Customer card file you register all users and connect them to the circuits they use

A user may be :• An employee

• A customer that leases circuits from your company

• A function in your company, i.e. a control center

• A supplier of leased circuits

Circuit routingCircuit routing

Other word for routing is crossing or patching. You can route a circuit in three different ways:

• Fully automatic routing from an equipment or a point to another equipment or point in the net

• Automatic routing on one cable, Telemator uses the first unoccupied and fault-free cores

• Manual routing on the core you want in the cable you choose

Prints Prints (the 3 most frequently used) (1 of 2)(the 3 most frequently used) (1 of 2)

The installer may use:• A ”Circuit card” or a ”Graphical circuit card”

when connecting a circuit, to see how to connect in all different points the circuit goes through

• A ”Cross card” when crossing many circuits in the same point

• A ”Point card” to terminate many cables in one point

There are also a lot of other prints for different purposes

Network diagramNetwork diagram

Automatically draws a graphical overview of the network. This is based on information registered in the Base module. The network diagram shows:

• Equipments

• Points

• Cables

• Wireless connections

Prints are paginated for printers or plotters

Cable trace moduleCable trace module

• Registration of ditches and similar, that might contain pipes and sub-pipes

• Cables can be placed directly into ditches, pipes or sub-pipes

• Traces in most digital cable maps (GIS) can be connected towards Telemator

• When you choose a trace on the map, Telemator will show you cables and pipes in the trace. You can also easily see circuits/lines inside the cable

www.mxdata.no 33

Functionality for fiber Functionality for fiber networksnetworks

• Shows each fiber in the cables• Welding of fibers in splices• Splice-card with colors• Registration of fiber manholes where the cable

are spliced or coiled• When using manual routing Telemator finds

all fibers spliced together into one trace• Print that simplifies analysis of test reports

www.mxdata.no 34

Functionality for Functionality for transmission systemstransmission systems

• Lower and higher order circuits• Time slots and channels• Digital cross-connections• Wireless connections on radio (-link) equipment• Patching between equipment and patch panel

inside telecom-rooms and the like• Shows both near- and remote end of a

”transmission-jump” in the same screen picture• Relation between local and high order side in

equipments

www.mxdata.no 35

Functionality for patch Functionality for patch panelspanels

• Termination of contacts down to pin-level

• Show contacts with or without pins

• Rout (patch) directly on contacts (built-in functionality makes sure that pins in the first contact are connected with correct pins in the other contact)

www.mxdata.no 36

Labour saving functionsLabour saving functions

• The ”Copy” function creates one or multiple equal elements in one operation – All earlier registrations can be used as templates

• Create libraries containing templates for equipments

• Termination of several cables in one distributor in one operation

• Routing of multiple circuits in one or several cables in one operation

• Renaming of several points, equipments, cables or circuits in one operation

The databaseThe database

• Relational database

• xBase file format (one of the best known)

• Data can be read directly from a lot of common PC-tools like Word and Excel

• Demands almost no administration

• Multi-user program

CoursesCourses

• Courses arranged at customer’s location

• The courses length are normally 2 days

www.mxdata.no 40

ConsultingConsulting

• “On the job training” for teaching you how to use Telemator in your own network

• Start help to get you started in early stages of registration

• Converting of data from other data systems

• Registration help for networks with or without existing documentation
