Established: 1690, by Father MassanetProblems: • Drought ruined crops• Disease killed Indians & Friars• Indians rejected Catholic religion & Spanish

attempts to change their way of life.• France not a threat and mission cost too

much money.

their problems.• Spaniards realized that a mission needed
