FALL/WINTER| 2014 |
I appreciate this opportunity to thank all of you for your generosity to LaVie. It is a privilege to be able to thank each of you for your financial donations, your friendship, and your gifts of time, prayers and support this past year. It is an amazing thing that this community does for those we serve.
As we have shared many stories throughout the year with all of you, I pray that the varied stories can help you see the different situations that hurting women are living with, and how women can often make an abortion plan
based upon not seeing any hope in their lives. I would have to say that most women do not want to have an abortion, but they cannot see beyond today and see how they could possibly feel in 1, 5 or even 10 years from now. I am thankful that LaVie continues to be a safe place for women, where they truly are given an opportunity to see all of their options for their baby.
As we go into a season where many friends and family members gather together for a time of Thanksgiving, I would like you to remember these faces that grace the pages of this newsletter. These faces, “LaVie babies”, exist because of you. So on their behalf, and for all the other “LaVie babies”, I give Thanks for YOU!
Blessings,

Montana State University - Career Fair
Every fall Montana State University of Billings hosts a Career Fair at the College for students to connect with businesses. This September, LaVie was able to be a part of it.
Some of our medical staff, Dr. Roberts, Heights Clinic Physician; Anndrea, C.N.A and Stacie, R.N. hosted a table at both City College and MSU-B. LaVie was accompanied by other businesses
such as; Wells Fargo, Shopko, and the YWCA. Applications for nursing, receptionists, internships, and volunteer positions were made available. Additionally, some nursing students discussed internship
opportunities with Dr. Roberts. In total, over the two day event, 20 applications were handed out.Cookies wrapped in our signature label - “Keep Calm and Study
Hard” were handed out as well as candy and gifts cards, which helped provide opportunities to talk one-on-one with several students about sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, ultrasounds, and sports physicals. A prenatal video played while brochures and business cards were handed out. Also baby models were displayed, whereby many students commented that they made pregnancy look “more real” than they had envisioned and helped them to realize it actually was a life and not “just tissue”.
Being at this event gave LaVie a chance to raise awareness in the community. It was a great opportunity for us to make that initial contact and leave a great impression.

2014 Annual Fundraiser Banquet
Banquet AwardsLaVie is blessed with having many
wonderful, dedicated and caring volunteers who give generously of their time and talents. We always enjoy acknowledging a few of these special individuals at our annual banquet.
The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to RoseMarie Rockwell. This award is in recognition of an individual who has served one full year or more, excelled in dedication and diligence in their volunteer position and given above and beyond what is expected of them in that position.
The Care Award was presented to Catholic HEART Workcamp. This award is in recognition of one who has contributed to the needs of the ministry in a loving and caring way giving service generously from the heart.
The Outstanding Service Award was presented to Dr. Patrick Byorth. This award is in recognition of an individual who has been involved in the ministry a minimum of two years, showing leadership qualities in faithfulness, diligence and self-motivation by continuing to give beyond their primary responsibilities serving in various capacities to further the ministry.
It is amazing that another banquet has come and gone. While the overall planning and preparation takes months, it is literally over in a blink of an eye. Each year we
strive to successfully represent LaVie and the women we serve. We can only take our record attendance and the financial donations received at this year’s banquet as a humble sign that God again has helped us accomplish this task.
The passionate and informative address by our key note speaker, Brad Mattes, whose serves as the Executive Director and CEO of Life Issues Institute and President of the International Right to Life Federation, shared with us his insight as a veteran of the pro-life cause, with over 38 years of educational, political and humanitarian experience. Through Brad’s journey, we saw how it led him to make a difference. Through this he works to protect vulnerable individuals and educates others on end-of-life issues.
As always, the ultrasound demonstration was the highlight of the evening. Baby Thompson cooperated very nicely giving the audience a good show of an active 14 week old baby gestation. A typical comment from guests has been, “It is still a miracle to be able to see into the womb. That tiny life and protecting it remains the main reason we are here.”
LaVie is so appreciative to everyone who attended this year’s banquet. Specifically, we would like to thank this year’s program participants; Joey Traywick, Emcee; Chris Anderson, LaVie Board Secretary; Pastor Chris Hallock, Grace Bible Church; LaVie Nurses - Stacie Pannell and Kristi Williams; Josh & Mary Thompson, Ultrasound Demonstration; Holly Linde, Banquet Chairman; Stacie Pannell, Reservation Chairman, along with volunteer Harper Swords’ assistance; and our fabulous table hosts for their significant contribution to this year’s banquet. Thank you to our banquet sponsors, who made this evening possible through their generous financial contributions. Thank you to all of our donors who have faithfully watched us grow and continued to support our mission through our many changes. May we continue to earn your trust and admiration as we partner in helping women and their unborn babies. All of your support, both prayerfully and financially, makes a difference every day!

Rose Marie’s storyI have had a heart for the unborn for 44 years. My passion led me to volunteer in my
community. I desired to help where I could. My story begins 44 years ago; I was two months pregnant when my husband had a
debilitating stroke. His stroke impaired his mobility and speech. Shortly after, I visited my OBGYN where he stated “You don’t have to go through with this pregnancy”.
I brushed it off, and the option never again presented itself.
His words didn’t cross my mind until years after when abortion became legal. The Pro Choice movement influenced the community to believe a fetus was not alive, but rather ‘just tissue’. I then realized how fortunate I was to have ignored my doctor’s comment.
I thank God each and every day for my children. My husband and I had three younger children at the time of his stroke. That pregnancy gave us our fourth child. My husband went on to lead a fairly normal life as a stroke victim. Although life was very difficult at times, we survived our struggles, and were blessed and happy. We were never promised life would be easy, but I am so thankful that we chose life!

Sponsor A Day UpdateWe are blessed by the generosity of our donors and want to
let you know that 200 of the 365 days in the year are represented through either full or half day sponsorship. We are grateful for your investment in the lives of young women, men and their unborn children. The program continues to provide a firm foundational income for the ministry of LaVie in both locations.
How does it work? At the time of implementing Sponsor a Day in 2006, we took our annual budget and divided all expenses, from light bulbs to building payments, by 365. We have only increased our Sponsor a Day rate once during these past seven years to try to keep pace with rising costs. The amount needed is $900; which is
the cost of operating both locations free of charge to the community. It seemed a lot to ask our donors to write a check for that amount, so we break it down into 12 payments or $75.00 monthly. You can also choose to sponsor ½ day for $450 which breaks down to $37.50 monthly. You decide which day of the year to sponsor and let us know. If that date has already been chosen, you may choose another. You may want to honor the date of a birthday, anniversary or other special event in your life.
If you want to know more about Sponsor a Day, please call LaVie and ask for DeAnn or Carol at 652-4868. You may also sign up and donate through our secure website at www.billingscpc.org.

OUR MISSION IS TWOFOLD…..To share the love of Christ as we serve the neglected,
brokenhearted and the marginalized in any way needed. Equally, to inspire participants to live as disciples of Christ through
serving others as a way of life; and to foster the Catholic Faith of each participant through the sacraments, prayer and
involvement in social service.Catholic HEART Workcamp along with Catholic youth ministers
and teens, have formed this ministry across the country and beyond. Being 13,000 strong this summer, in over 50 different cities, parish youth groups and schools have joined together
to serve as Christ modeled. As bold Catholics, we embrace this challenge to put ourselves aside to serve and restore homes and hearts, feed the hungry, lift the spirits of children, give hope to the disabled, and provide help through partnerships with social agencies.
CHWC provides all you need to offer your young people a positive life changing experience. You prepare at home and once you arrive…a college team of students, a manager, a director, priests to celebrate liturgy and confession, and a nurse are all ready to serve you, so that together, others will be served.
CHWC’s vision for the future is clear, to listen closely to the Lord and continue to grow in the direction that God desires, after all, this is God’s creation and we are faithful stewards. We want to continue offering quality service camps, serve people in need, and spiritually enrich the lives of Workcamp participants. Most importantly, CHWC wants
to provide young people and those served opportunities to experience
God’s love in a profound way! To learn more about CHWC, please visit

Rebecca came to LaVie already knowing she was pregnant, but not knowing what to do. She brought a friend for moral support. Rebecca and her friend were escorted to the intake room by the nurse who would spend the next hour with them. Rebecca’s story is one of hurt and emotional neglect and abuse. But it does not end there. Her story is one of redemption and grace, too!
Rebecca’s story begins in the same way as her baby’s story, an unplanned pregnancy. Abortion and adoption are words that Rebecca is very familiar with; words that have changed her past. You see, Rebecca is adopted. Her mom (adopted) had an abortion early in life leaving her unable to conceive and making adoption the way she would become a parent. Rebecca knows the hurt of abortion, the grace and redemption of adoption.
Rebecca, having been in an unhealthy, long-term relationship was being pressured into having an abortion. This was not her heart’s desire. She got information while at LaVie along with support and encouragement, and most importantly, a listening ear. Tears were shed; over an unplanned pregnancy, over a relationship that was not healthy, over choices made that bring questions and anxiety and the unknown. Smiles and laughter were shared as
well; Rebecca wants this baby! She wants to enjoy this pregnancy, planned or not. She wants to take every moment in and cherish it. She recognizes the miracle in conception and pregnancy. Rebecca is also scared. She has fears about the future and the realization that she will be a single mom with an unsupportive “father of the baby” and fears about how to provide for herself and now a helpless baby. She fears her ability to be strong and to stick up for what she feels is right. Rebecca is aware of so many emotions flooding her already changing body. Rebecca came to LaVie not knowing what to do. She left with information and a plan, her plan to carry a baby she didn’t know she wanted.
Rebecca left with hope. The hurt of her past and current relationship remains, the fear remains, the unknown very present in her thoughts. But hope peeks through.
A positive pregnancy test was confirmed at LaVie and an Ultrasound scheduled. Rebecca is looking forward to seeing her baby for the first time and has high hopes of hearing the amazing whoosh, whoosh, whoosh of the baby’s heartbeat.
Rebecca’s story is not over yet.
