DESCRIPTION

Entering the show lobby we were greeted by a delightful assortment of artistically carved chocolate statues. In the show area there were lines of booths each featuring a colourful chocolate presentation, fascinating to the eye as well as the palate as each had samples to share. Many of the booths had chocolate confections (samples) made with pisco (grape brandy) that mixed with chocolate, created a sensational experience. There were many presentations on topics such as exportation, quality control, sustainability, competitiveness as well as ways to develop the domestic consumption of chocolate. The majority of Peru's cacao is exported, and as such they want to export more cacao and at the same time increase domestic use. Center stage at the front of the exhibit there were international presentations from a host of chefs and chocolatiers. The Cocoa and Chocolate Show is intended to promote the country's cacao and cacao producers, while discouraging illegal crops such as coca.
