German Chancellor Fellowship Program
The German Chancellor Fellowship program targets accomplished young professionals who are likely to become decision-makers, thought leaders, and influential voices in their respective fields. Candidates from all professions and disciplines are eligible to apply.
Successful applicants will spend one year in Germany conducting an independent project at an institution of choice, in cooperation with a host in Germany.
Demonstrated leadership potential; applicants whose background is largely academic should also have gained some leadership experience. For US applicants: German language skills may not be required, depending on the individual’s project.
German Chancellor Fellowship Program
Duration 12 months
Eligibility Leaders from the Brazil, China, India, Russia, and the US ; within 12 years of BA
Stipend 2,150 to 2,750 EUR
Benefits Travel stipends and language courses available
Networking and Connections with your class of 50 (10 each from participating countries)
Family allowance for accompanying family members

German Chancellor Fellowship Program: The Application
Components:
A project plan (approx. 3 pages) detailing the project's subject matter, goals and a time plan; the candidate must draw up the project plan independently and secure the support of the proposed mentor before submitting an application.
A detailed host's statement, including confirmation of support.
Two or three expert opinions from individuals qualified to comment on the candidate's professional, personal, and/or academic background
Application deadline: September 15 2014
Duration of selection procedure: Selection is held in Bonn in May of the next year

Junior Research Group Support: Sofja Kovalevskaja Award
Sofja Kovalevskaja Award
● For top level junior academics from abroad
● Up to 1.65 million EUR for a period of 5 years
● Support to establish own junior research group in Germany
● Joint application by the applicant and the host institution, next deadline in 2015. Call for proposals is every two years.
Recognizing individual excellence: Research Awards
Humboldt Research Award ● For academics of all disciplines from abroad
● 60,000 EUR for a period of 5 years
● Supports research stays in Germany over a period of 6 to 12 months (may be divided into segments)
● By nomination only – 100 annually
Alexander von Humboldt Professorship ● International Award for Research in Germany for leading academics of all
disciplines from abroad
● 3.5 or 5 million EUR for 5 years, up to 10 award winners per year
● Nominations by German universities or joint applications by universities and non-university research institutions
● Requirement: strategic plan by the university to integrate the award winner into long-term research and development
