More than 70 federal laws have been taken under the influence and involvement of the VOI. They include the Federal Law on social protection of disabled people in the Russian Federation (1995).
Achievements of the VOI
The VOI has a consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council.
The VOI is a member of Disabled Peoples’ International and cooperates with other international and national organizations of disabled people.
The VOI has founded an association of disabled sportsmen to develop disabled people’s sport movement.
The VOI has 1 nationwide and 19 regional periodicals and an editorial and publishing house ”Zdravtsvuy”.
The VOI has organized all-Russian and regional cultural festivals for disabled adults and children since 1992.
