Summarizing the HIX/Medicaid Expansion Project:
ACA requires everyone under age 65, without Medicare, to have health insurance by 1/1/14, and every state to have an HIX in operation by 10/1/13 for open enrollment
ACA expands Medicaid to 133% FPL & adds childless adults While awaiting a decision from the US Supreme Court, Governor
Brewer wants to continue planning the HIX & Medicaid Expansion. Arizona plans to build its own HIX, leveraging its existing
infrastructure for eligibility and enrollment as the core of the HIX & Medicaid Expansion system, using the Health-e-Arizona system
Arizona plans to leverage the DOI SERFF system for plan management, including certification of QHPs
Arizona plans to purchase technology and services that cannot be leveraged easily from its current infrastructure

Issued an RFP for commercial components of the HIX Evaluation of 5 proposals underway Engaged an IV&V Vendor for HIX/Medicaid Expansion
(netlogx) Received approval from CMS for enhanced Federal Financial
Participation for the Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP and TANF components of the project: 90% Federal Share for most development
IT planning nearly complete and ready to start development soon
