THE BISHOPSWOOD SCHOOLS FEDERATION Year 1 and 2 Home Learning Plan – Week beginning 13.7.20
Please be aware this is a list of suggested activities for the week ahead. Don’t forget to continue reading at home regularly, both reading to an
adult and enjoying books together. On the school’s website is an additional list with a range of websites you can access for further ideas.
English Maths Other
English 1- To create a ‘passport’ of
information.
Miss Tashdjian created a passport of information
on herself for the Year 2s on Seesaw a few weeks
ago. Now we would like the children in Year 1 and
Year 2 to do the same for their new teachers!
Using Sheet A for Year 2 and Sheet B for Year 1,
draw or stick photos on to the sheet and then
bring it to school either this week or in the first
week back. Tell your new teacher all about
yourself. Keep it safe!
Maths 1 – To use addition and subtraction
strategies to solve a puzzle. (Sheet D)
Solve the addition and subtractions sums in each
part, find the correct colour and complete the
picture using colouring pencils/pens. Check it
looks right!
Monday – PSHE – Looking Forward & Changes Lockdown Memories- (Sheet I)
We have all been through lots of changes over the
last few months because of the Coronavirus.
These are changes that no
one has ever seen before and
something that none of us
were expecting!
Some changes have been
good but some changes have
been harder to accept.
Use the document below to talk about and share
how you have been feeling.
English 2 - To create a poster of
positivity (Sheet C) What 5 things are you most proud of about yourself or do you like/love about yourself? Are you good at being kind? Do you have a hidden talent? Show us what 5 things you most like about yourself and present the information to us on the poster. You can add a photo or drawing of yourself – anything goes!
Maths 2 – To use multiplication knowledge
and count in 2s, 5s and 10s in order to solve a
puzzle. (Sheet E)
Solve the multiplication sums
in each square by counting in
2s 5s or 10s, find the correct
colour and complete the
picture using colouring
pencils/pens. What have you coloured in?
Tuesday – PSHE – Looking Forward & Changes Scavenger Hunt- Collect 5 things that mean something to you. What you choose needs to show your new teacher who you are and what is important to you. You could upload a photo or make a short video of them. Remember to explain why you have chosen them.
English 3 – To create an Acrostic Poem of your
name.
Using the letters in your name, can you think of
words or phrases that describe you or tell us
something about you. You can use adjectives to
create noun phrases that describe you.
Maths 3 – To use addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division to solve a code
breaker. (Sheet F)
Using different strategies such as drawing, tens
and units, counting in groups etc, solve the sums
in order to find out the letters you need.
Wednesday – PE & PSHE – staying healthy and happy
It has been a long and difficult few months for all of us. We are so proud of all of you. Staying happy and healthy is just as important as we go into the Summer holidays. Have a look at Mind Yeti https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiaUKiwbiHMQDQLCXoPaMMYotldKlUQCw and Cosmic Kids Yoga https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga Try out some of the activities. Perhaps you could have a go with the whole family. Let us know your favourites.
English 4 – To write a wish list.
It’s nearly the summer holidays! Although you
have been at home for a long time now, the
holidays will hopefully mean that you can spend
even more time with your family doing nice
things. Now more things are opening up too, you
might be able to go out for the day and visit parks
once again, and see friends and family.
Why not write a list of some things or activities
you would like to try and do over the summer?
Mrs Marnoch would like to go to the seaside and
build a sandcastle and Mrs Rolph would like to go
to Ikea!
Maths 4 – To use place value knowledge to
identify numbers in different representations
(Sheet G)
Complete the sheet by joining up the
representations of the
numbers in tens and
ones to the number.
Can you make some of
your own too?
Thursday PSHE – Looking Forward & Changes (Sheet J) Think about your time in year 1 or in year 2. What are your favourite memories? What are you proud about? What can you do now that you could not do last year? What are you most looking forward to about September when you join year 2 or year 3? Use the My Favourite Memories sheet below. There is also a lovely colouring poster with a clever quote about smiling about this year, which you might like to do and put up in your rooms to remind you of the fun we have all had.
English 5 – To thank your home school
teachers by writing a card or list.
Your adults at home have been amazing at helping
you with your learning! Today is the day to tell
them why you think they have been so brilliant
and thank them for being so helpful. Can you
create a card or a list that tells them all the ways
in which they are awesome and say a great big
thank you? We really appreciate all they’ve been
doing so say a massive thank you from us too!
Maths 5 – To tell the time to the nearest half
hour or hour. (Sheet H)
It is important to be able to tell the time on
holiday otherwise you might miss your train or
flight or ferry! Can you tell the time using these
clocks? If you need a refresher on telling the time

Federation Activity – Friday 17th July
Can you believe that we have all been home
schooling for over 14 weeks? What a long time!
We are all super proud of the resilience you have
shown. Your efforts and hard work that you have
all put in are incredible! This has been a crazy
time where many of us have felt sad, lonely,
worried and fed up! You have all kept going with a
smile on your faces. We have seen how you have
helped and supported people in our community
and looked after each other. Many of you have
been in school in Key Worker bubbles so that
your grown-ups can help keep us safe. We wish
we were able to reward each and every one of you
in a Celebration Assembly. We would have every
single one of you standing up and achieving every
certificate we have from Star of the Week,
Resilience and Active Citizen. We hope the
certificate below helps you know that we are
thinking of you and are so pleased you are part of
our Bishopswood Family!
From all the staff at Bishopswood Schools, we
send you HUGE rounds of applause and hugs.
Have a really wonderful and safe Summer and we
will hopefully welcome all of you back in
September.
