foreward.

The book has been created as a response to myself partially, a reaction to my surroundings and the digital

wave of feminism we are in the midst of.The images are derived from a singular inspiration,

through my eyes, generation X feminist.

In the least narcissistic tone it’s a supply and demand for my own intentions, as well as something that I hope will

inspire creativity and awareness within others.

acknowledgements.

A first thank you to my mother, Alison.

Aimee Glen. Many a shared thought, thank you for helping me to realise

my ideas and thank you for being a friend.

Finally thank you to the creative people that I am surrounded by, for your unintentional inspiration and

support.

intro.

This book is a conceptualist feminist book. What that means to me, is the combination of my personal taste in aesthetics, with a word that defines me so deeply.

Being a feminist in its modernity to me, is about un-doing all the silent sexism that we are taught to be right

when young.

Old habits die-hard.

This book is one part feminist, one part conceptualism and one part a study of the human condition.

epigraph.Cunt is not a bad word.

Vagina is no longer a burden.Refuse to be ashamed of your anatomy. We are beautiful and powerful womym.

The source of our power,Is our cunts.

That which we’ve been told to hide,To protect,

Never to speak of.That which we grow from,

And develop.Where we bear children,

And shed our wombs by the moon.That which we are made to fear;

To worry about; To shave or not?

Does it smell?Is it weird?

Does it look right? From our beginning,

Our cunts are mysterious. It is we who must reclaim them.

Gain control over them,Learn to love,

Rather than shy away from.Cunt Cunt

Our cunts will be our saviours.

“Cunt” - Marigold,Dec 9, 2014.

prologue. In 1848 a 70-year fight for the right for womyn to vote

began. This was the first wave of feminism; now 167 years later we are still fighting for the right to control of our own bodies.

We are still shamed for self-expression.We are still taught to never walk alone at night, in case we

will get ourselves raped. Our femininity is the butt of jokes, and disgust.

We are used, we are disrespected and we are pronounced as a secondary sex.

Now, feminism has the biggest voice its ever had, we are a connected world, we can open our eyes to the atrocious way half of the worlds population is being treated, and we

can change it.

We are activists.

MIND.

Mindfulness

In its modernity being a feminist is in some part about unpicking what we have been brought up as

being the right way to conduct ourselves.

Our culture presents the victim as the fault,Human rights as a privilege,

Femininity as an object.

“Consent is not the absence of a no; it is the presence of a yes.”

-Erin Riordan.

“We’ve chosen the path to equality, don’t let them turn us around.”

-Geraldine Ferraro

“No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an

animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.” -Frederica Mathewes-Green.

“Beauty provokes harassment, the law says, but it looks through men’s eyes when deciding what provokes it.”

-Naomi Wolf.

“you might think I look like just a girl but you should be very, very afraid of me”

-Riot Grrrls.

“Riots grow out of intolerable conditions. Violent revolts are generated by revolting conditions,

through the language of the unheard”-Martin Luther King.

“For what is done or learned by one class of women becomes, by virtue of their common womanhood, the

property of all women.” -Elizabeth Blackwell

ANATOMY

Why are we so afraid of our anatomy ?

We are embarrassed by our functions. We remove our physicality. We hide our humanness.

We distance ourself from ourselves and find Obscurity when we do not abide by this set of

patriarchal rules.

BODY.

“Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge.”

-Plato

These fight to be the most heard in our actions, but knowledge seems to be the most

forgotten.

cult of femininity.

SOUL.

“In her soul you’ll findThe way to bring her back into your world

Grown mindBut she’s just a precious little girl

In her soul you’ll findThe things that made your life seem so

worthwhileThen you can give it in return”

- Kelly Price.

the woman I wanted to be.

epilogue.

What I am hoping for, with this book and its words is to raise awareness in a creative and

playful way, that it is quite human to be womyn and that we should celebrate this.
