This Week’s Sermon:
Reflecting the Light Galatians 4:4‐7
Musings… Rev. Cory Glover Associate Minister
For the last two years, Marlene, Jade, and I have traveled east to our hometown of Lufkin for family Christmases the week prior to Christmas day. This has allowed us to experience the season with our families and still make it back for Christmas Eve services. Both years, we have come home to surprises…
Last Christmas, we came home to a house that had been robbed. Many of our possessions were stolen, our Christmas gifts were opened, and our personal belongings were rummaged through. This was a very saddening experience. Through the kindness of family and some gracious church members, we were able to replace all that was taken. And we now have an alarm system! This Christmas, we came home to a very different surprise. After arriving late Thursday night, we awoke Friday morning to notice that some of Santa’s elves had made a trip to our house. All of the gates in our back yard, worn down and in need of repair, had been replaced by some very generous and crafty church members. I cannot express how grateful we are and just how redemptive this moment turned out to be. It was as if the pain of the previous year had been eradicated with joy and hope. The last time I checked, that is what Christmas is all about. Two very different experiences. Two very different outcomes. But one constant: generous people. I’m thankful for a loving congregation of generous people who care for others as much as themselves. You have been a blessing to me…and I know you’ve been a blessing to others as well. From Chalice Fund to Heifer International and everywhere in‐between, your generosity has been evident. Thank you. Keep it up. There is a world out there desperate for the Good News that Christmas can be real each and every day. “I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.” ‐ Romans 1:8

“With the peace and grace of Christ, may the Spirit of
God gently enfold all those who sorrow.”
Thank You
Thank you to all the people that prayed for my successful knee surgery and recovery, get well cards, e‐mails, and wonderful food during the last two months. I am going through therapy and whatever else is
