The name of the war came from the two

powers going against each other, The Soviet Union and The United

States, that had no direct conflict but

more of a difference in ideology issues. Both the US and

USSR thought their country was a

“democracy” but neither believed the

other.

Although the two powers were allies during the 2nd world war, their different views on how to run their country, triggered the two powers to go against each other. This time around not in a hot war but a cold one.

Even though the two powers were strong and well prepared, they had to have some allies that could help them

USSR Allies:

Cuban Missile Crisis 1962 The Cold War got very close to a nuclear

War in 1962 when both countries fought for Cuba. After the US tried to invade Cuba but failed, the Soviet Union tried to supply Cuba with missiles that would’ve allowed the USSR to target almost all of the US. When the United States found out about Russia’s plan, they immediately sent ships all around Cuba to prevent the soviet union from delivering the weapons. After these event the two forces came to the agreement that the USSR wouldn’t give Cuba missiles as long as the US doesn’t try to invade Cuba again.

The Soviet Union entered a decline shortly after their political policies (Perestroika and Glasnost) and bad economical decisions.
