The Executive body consist of:

Prime MinisterThe Cabinet The Civil serviceThe Governor General

•To make policies •To issue directions for enforcing laws and policies •To initiate bills •To formulate budgets

•To appoint ambassadors

•To appoint commissions and board members to statutory bodies

•To grant resident status and citizenship to aliens.

The cabinet consist of the Prime Minister and his selected ministers , whose number vary from time to time. Minister may be chosen from the House of Representatives and from the senate .

They usually meet once a week for discussion.

Each member of the cabinet is expected to carry out a special responsibility which is called a portfolio.

An important aspects of the cabinet system is that it links the executive to the legislative function.

To decide on the goals of the nation. To discuss draft legislation . To make decisions about the internal and external affairs of the country.

To decide on the budget. To approve recommendations from various ministries.

The person whom the governor general invites to form a government.

He is usually the leader of the political party which have won the election .

Determine the composition and the size of the cabinet.

Choose the members of the cabinet and recommend their appointment or dismissal.

Assign responsibilities to cabinet ministers .

Choose judges after consulting the leader of opposition.

The civil service is a complex organization of full time employees whose duty is to serve the elected government of the day. It is considered as a third force standing between the politicians and the public.

Civil servant serve the citizens by;Providing answers to their questionSolving their problemsExplaining the government goals , policies and programmes to them.

Protecting their interest.
