Ways of Meeting the Coursework Requirement
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 7
Online Academic Program provides the academic courses required for the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in a convenient, online format.
• Currently, these courses also meet the coursework requirement for the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation.
• Online courses are available to anyone, anywhere, for convenient learning on your computer. These classes are completely online and contain extensive multimedia lectures available 24 x 7 with downloadable PowerPoint slides, progress quizzes, and a discussion board where you will post answers to assignments, ask questions of your instructor and interact with other learners.
Online Academic Program (OAP)
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 8
• Courses are offered in any of the nine subject
areas.
• The Online Academic Program course schedule is
a three-semester schedule, with semesters
beginning in the fall (September to December),
winter (January to April) and spring (May to
August). All nine courses are offered.
Online Academic Program (OAP)
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 9
Challenge Exams are designed to:
• Assess an applicant’s academic currency in an individual subject area and are similar to a final exam in the subject.
• Enable an applicant to achieve credit in a required subject area without retaking a course, giving them credit for previous academic or experiential knowledge in a subject.
Challenge Exams
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 10
• Exams are scheduled three times a year; February, May, and September.
• The cost for each exam is $175.00 plus HST.
• Results are provided within a two-week turnaround from the exam date.
• Results sent via e-mail.
Challenge Exam Deadlines
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 11
• The Alternate Route is intended for individuals with
advanced HR education, or for experienced HR
professionals.
• To provide the greatest flexibility, a points-based
system was developed that gives ‘points’ for
experience, formal training, coursework, and other
relevant designations.
• Fifty points are needed to pass the Alternate Route and
qualify for the CKE1 or CKE2.
The Alternate Route
HRPA’s Coursework Requirement 12
The Alternate Route is divided in two streams:
Academic StreamEducation and HR Designations
- No adjudication required (administrative process)
- Can be submitted at any time
Experience StreamEducation, HR Designations and/or Experience
- Must be reviewed by a panel of the Experience Assessment Committee (adjudication
required for the experience component)
- Deadline for submission is the last business day of each month
