Nursery education - from birth of child to 3 year
General information about the kindergarten “Zilvitis”
There are 7 groups in the kindergarten at all 1 nursery group (from 1 to 3 years) 6 kindergarten groups (3 – 5 year) 1 preschool group (6-7 years) There are 15 children (in nursery) and to 20 children in each
group 1,5 teacher per group; 1 “assistant” 36 working (3 hours) hours per week; Parents pay

Opening hours: every day from 7 to 18.30 130 children are educated in the kindergarten; 11 teachers (2 speech therapeutists, 1 music
teacher);

Teachers salary paid partly from Kaunas district municipality, another part – from the Government;
Curicculum. Each kindergarten creats own programe of education. This programe must be approved by the regional Departament of education.
Preschool education is hold on National curriculum. Parents pay 2,74 euro per day (0,58 cents for the
support of educational environment, rest money for the meal);
20 hours education per week covers government, other the municipality;
TEACHERS and the staff
Each group is supervised by one educator and an assistant; Teachers assistants don’t have peadgogical education and usualy
work as a class-cleaners. Music educator is training children‘s musical skills. Corrective help for children is provided by two speech therapists. Two cooks prepare the meal three times a day. Other staff: cleaners, joiner, night keepers... Adminastation: headmistress, vice headmistress, secretary...
Teachers working hours and holidays
Teacher works 36 hours a week (full day); Teacher’s assistant – 40 hours a week; Teacher has 56 days of vacation in
summer. Teachers assistant has 28 days. No Christmas, Easters or other holidays
Childrens’ daily routine:
7.00 – 8.30 Meeting and greeting the children8.45 Breakfast (different time for each group);9.30 – 11.30 Educational activities: games, discussions, artistic or sports activities11.00 – 12.00 Games outside12.15 Dinner (different time for each group); 13.00 – 15.00 Time to rest15.30 – 16.30 Playing games16.00 Supper (different time for each group); 17.00 – 18.30 Fun time: games, conversation with parents

What's next?
As we are a small community, we have a good relations with a Karmėlava gymnasium. Our children continue education in the primary school of this gymnasium.
