Monday

The English speaking group met at 8 a.m. in Bioskop Brno - a lab of Masaryk University.

We analysed the DNA of pork sausages and goat cheese to check if they really were produced from pork meat and goat milk.

And - what were the results?

Then, we went to school for lunch and in the afternoon, we visited the city centre.

Czech students were the guides and presented interesting information about the sights.

In the evening, we went to a bowling centre to have more fun. We also had dinner together there.

After such a long day, we finally went home!

Tuesday

We had to get up very early in the morning, a trip to Prague was planned for this day.

Our train left at 7 a.m. and we arrived to Prague at about 9:30 a.m.

We visited the historical centre, Czech students presented the sights in English and German.

We had a guided tour around st. Vitus, the Old Castle, st. George and the Golden Lane. It was really great though we almost got frozen in the cathedrals - it was so cold inside!

Then, we went for a pizza in a restaurant and at 5:20 p.m., it was time to go back to Brno (and also the right time to have a lesson in Czech and Hungarian:-)

Wednesday

The English group worked in the school lab in the morning.

We analysed milk acidity and salt in sausages.

And what were the results here?

After working in the lab for the whole morning, we had lunch at school, visited the motivating centre and enjoyed an English lecture with other students.

In the afternoon, some of us went home to get ready for the evening theatre visit, the others managed to visit Petrov´s watchtower and the city centre.

In the evening, we met for the ballet Swan Lake. For some of us, it was the first ballet performance we have visited!

Thursday

In the morning, we visited the Technological Centre of Mendel University. We had a guided tour and it was great fun! Not only did we learn new facts but also tasted crispy rolls and chocolate:-)))

Then, we had lunch and worked at school - we had to prepare the presentations for Friday.

At 3:30 p.m., we arrived to Mendel Museum. There we learned a lot of interesting facts about Gregor Johann Mendel, his life and work and also enjoyed the exhibition.

In the evening, we had dinner together in a restaurant.

Friday

On Friday, students presented the results of their lab work in English and German.

The coin toss decided the German group would start. In the presentations, we presented the tools, lab equipment, the procedure and the results. Other students also attended the presentations. We were a little bit nervous but in the end, everybody was more or less successful. The presentations were assessed by the teachers - we got marks in Chemistry and English or German. These marks will be part of our final assessment.

One interesting thing - the Czech and Hungarian systems of marks are not the same - for Czech students, the best mark is 1, but for Hungarian students, it is 5!

When the stress was over, we went for our last trip to the caves in Moravian Karst.

We had a guided tour in English and German and it was really adventurous as we were going by boats as well.

Then, we had dinner together in a restaurant in Křtiny and went back to school by bus.

There was also a big surprise - Lada´s family baked wonderful gingerbread presents for everyone!!!

Saturday

We met at 9:50 at the station in Brno. It was very sad because we made new friends who were about to leave:-(

After waiting for some time for the train, we ran to the platform to give our Hungarian friends goodbye...

We hope everybody enjoyed the week in Brno, learned a lot of new things, made new friends... and see you in autumn in Debrecen!!!
