THE FEASTS OF YAHWEH

An Introduction To The Feasts of Yahweh
AngeeSee.com
There are seven appointed festivals commanded by Yahweh our God and are known as The Feasts of Yahweh, a better and more accurate name for these set times than "Feasts of the Jews" or "Feasts of Israel" because Yahweh Himself says of these Feasts, "These are My Feasts" (Leviticus 23:2).

An Overview OfThe Seven Feasts
AngeeSee.com
Here are the seven Feasts of Yahweh in order according to the Biblical Calendar: * Pesach - Passover* Chag Ha'Matzah - Unleavened Bread* Chag Ha'Bikurrim - Firstfruits* Shavuot - Pentecost* Yom Teruah - Feast of Trumpets* Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement* Sukkot - Feast of Tabernacles

These seven Feasts can also be grouped by the seasons in which they occur, as shown in Deuteronomy 16:16

Deuteronomy 16:16 reads, "Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:"

1. Spring - Chag Ha'Matzah - The Feast of Unleavened Bread
2. Summer - Shavuot - The Feast of Weeks
3. Fall - Sukkot - The Feast of Tabernacles

These are the three Feasts where all the males of the children of Israel are to appear before Yahweh at the Temple in Jerusalem. Three times in a year they would be at the Temple as commanded in Deuteronomy 16:16.

The grouping of the Feasts by season is useful for study because each season has its own harvest and relates to the type of offering presented to Yahweh for a particular Feast.

1. Spring - Barley harvest, Firstfruits of Barley Sheaves
2. Summer - Wheat harvest, Two leavened loaves for a
wave offering
3. Fall - Grape harvest, Fruit of the vine and wine

In general, the most popular way to group the Feasts would be into two groups, The Spring Feasts and The Fall Feasts, according to the First and Second Coming of Yeshua (Jesus) our Messiah.

The Spring Feasts

The main text for studying the Feasts of Yahweh is Leviticus Chapter 23.

"Feasts in Hebrew is the word "mo'ed" (H4150), which means an appointment, a fixed time, and a festival. It is a stated time to meet, like when a couple sets their wedding date and agree to be there on that chosen date and time.
AngeeSee.com
The first time we see this word "mo'ed" is in Genesis 1:14 where God creates the sun, moon and stars and says they are to be for "mo'ed" (signals) to us. Signs (oth) and signals (mo'ed) to His people.
AngeeSee.com
"Signs" and "signals" is a direct reference back to the Feasts in Leviticus 23. The word "mo'ed" is consistently used throughout the Tanakh (the Old Testament) to refer to the Feasts of Yahweh. We can follow the trail by doing a word study on "mo'ed".

"Proclaim" is the Hebrew word "qara", which means to call out to those who are bidden to attend the Feast. Similar to the idea of sending out a wedding invitation.

In Matthew 22:2-5, we see the Kingdom of Heaven compared to a King preparing a wedding dinner for His Son. As this is a parable about "The Kingdom of Heaven" which is "God's Kingdom", we know that God is showing us how He is the Father in this parable, and He is the one preparing for the wedding of His Son.

We can read more about the Wedding of Messiah to His Bride in the Book of Revelation, but to understand The Marriage Supper of the Lamb, we need to first understand the Feasts of Yahweh.
AngeeSee.com
That is the reason Yahweh commanded for His Feasts to be kept for all generations. So that we will understand both Yeshua's First Coming AND His Second Coming.
AngeeSee.com
The Feasts are dress rehearsals for the prophetic events that are going to happen in the future.
AngeeSee.com
And just as the Spring Feasts were fulfilled in order at the First Coming of Messiah, we can be sure that the Fall Feasts will be fulfilled in order at the Second Coming of Messiah.
AngeeSee.com
The four festivals that make up the Spring Feasts include: 1. Pesach - Passover2. Chag Ha'Matzah - Feast of Unleavened Bread3. Chag Ha'Bikurrim - Feast of Firstfruits4. Shavuot - Pentecost

We need to keep in mind that the Spring Feasts are when the barley and wheat harvest is ripe and presented to Yahweh at His Feasts.

The Fall Feasts
AngeeSee.com
In the fall/autumn season, grapes would be ripe for harvest in the land of Israel.
AngeeSee.com
The Fall Feasts are types and shadows of Messiah's Second Coming. That is why we see verses in the yet-to-be-fulfilled passages of Revelation speaking about grapes and the winepress of His wrath.
AngeeSee.com
For example, in Revelation 14:18, we read:
"And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried out to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe."

The Fall Feasts which consist of the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), are next in line to be fulfilled in their order. It is crucial for those of us watching for His Return to understand these Feasts.

These annual dress rehearsals contain a lot of instruction for us as believers in Messiah, and aid us in preparing for upcoming events.
AngeeSee.com
I hope and pray that we will take heed to these instructions contained in the Feasts of Yahweh so that we will be found faithful and watching when our Master returns.
AngeeSee.com
Once we understand the annual cycle of the Feasts, and their significance in the harvests in Israel, we will see for ourselves their fulfillment in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) at His two comings.

Did you know that there is a calendar in the Bible that is different from our Calendar?
AngeeSee.com
We call it... God's Calendar
or the Biblical Calendar.
AngeeSee.com
Any serious Bible Student must learn about God's calendar to understand how God calculates days, time, weeks, months, seasons, years, etc.
AngeeSee.com
Next in this series is The Biblical Calendar, before we go into a deeper study of each of the Feast.
