The geological action of wind(La acción geológica del viento)

The winds exist all over the planet, but their action is only noticiable where there are a lot of fine-grained materials like sand and clay and there are very few plants to anchor these materials in the ground. We can find these conditions in arid deserts and in some coastal areas.

When the wind is the dominant geological agent we can see landforms such as mushroom rocks, stony desert and sandy desert (dunes)

The wind effectively separates sediments by size.A stony desert or reg (desierto pedregoso) is formed when the wind removes fine particles.

The wind effectively separates sediments by size.A stony desert is formed when the wind removes fine particles and a sandy desert or erg is formed when these fine particles are deposited. These accumulations of sand are called dunes (dunas).

Mushroom Rocks The higher off the ground the wind is, the less sand it can carry. Near the ground the wind carries more sand, so the erosion is higher near the ground, producing the mushroom shape rocks.
