Tralning Poll workers
Poll workers must bo adept at operatlng the eslate, DAU, and JBC (if appllcabla). lf Pollworkers are comfortable with the polling plac€ components of the eslate ElectronicVoting system, then ihey will be mrnfortable assisting voters.
To accomplish this comfort, and knowledge, level, at least two Poll workers (thoserunnlng the JBC) from each polling place should go through Hart InteroMc's eslateElectronic Voting System Polling Place Operations Training Manual and courgework witha Hart lnteroMc Training Specialist or a trained county employee (trained through ourTain-the-Trainer program). The Poll worke/s eSlate Op€rations Quick Reference, andthe estate Polling Ptace S:fstem Quick Referene, should also be available al eachpolling plac€.
Ail polling place workers should understand the rudimenb of voting on the eSlate andDAU units. They can do this by going through Modules 1 and 2 of the Poll worke/se9late Operations Course. This c'ould be accomplished with the assistrance of trainedcounty employees (trainod through our Train-th+Trainer program), or through trainingwfth a I'laft lntefiMc Training Specialis| All Poll workers must have some hands-onexp€rience with the a.slate Electronic Voting System, with the ballot that voters see, before working with voters.
We also encrurage local ele€ffons staff to conduct simulalion exercisss with each pollingphca team before the first election cycle.
Hart IntercMc is dedicated to helping all jurisdictions that use th€ eslate ElectronicVoting Slrstem irain Poll workers and educate voters.
Master Course Design and Training PlannerThe following pages chart the high view of the eslate Electronic Voting System MasterCourse Design and an example spreadsheet laying out eshte Training timerequirements. A complete course layout and outline are available when our optionalTrain-the-Trainer program is implemented. The MS Excel version of the spreadsheetwill be shared with clients.

We also suggest using a CD-R instead of a CD-RW. A CIR is a on€.time us+-youcan only lv|'fte to it on@, and then yoll can only Read off of it. A CD-FIW isreadableimiteable, and can be used multiple times like a floppy disk-you can Read andWrite b A as often as you rirant.
