The Intensification of the Filipino- American War and the Results of the Hostilities Philippine Civilizations

Hostilities in the Visayas The command of the islands in

the Visayas was given to General Marcus P. Miller

December 28,1898- American Ships docked in Iloilo.

February 4,1899- outbreak of the war.

February 11,1899- General Miller received orders to commence assault on Iloilo.

February 14, 1899- the Americans got hold on Sta. Barbara

February,22 – Cebu surrendered to the Americans.

Occupations of Mindanao August 1899- Bates

Treaty was signed. 1. US sovereignty over the

islands of Jolo shall be recognized while the Americans likewise recognize the rights and integrity of the sultan.

2. Respect shall be exercised by the Americans towards the Islamic religion.

Bates Treaty Cooperation shall be provided

by the Sultan and his Datus to the Americans in order to supress piracy.

Monthly pension shall be given to the sultan and his datus.

Act no. 787 June 1,1903 It provided for the

establishment of the Moro Province.The Moro Province was composed of Sulu, Cotabato, Davao, Lanao and Zamboanga.

The Filipino government had to transfer from one place to another in order to avoid the enemies.

Battle of Tirad Pass December 2,1899- the

battle of Tirad Pass in Ilocos Sur took place between the 300 American led by Major Peyton C. March and the 60 Filipinos under the command of General del Pilar.

The Capture of Aguinaldo March 23,1901 – the

Americans reached Palanan and easily maneuvered their way inside Aguinaldo’s camp.

much greater than the United States did.

Around 200,000 Filipinos lost their lives. 20,000 Muslims perished in many

battles between the two opposing sides.
