How do I say LATEX
The origin of the word TEX is the Greek τεχνηmeaning“skill, art, technique” and is pronounced “tech” as in theword “technician”LATEX is pronounced as LAY-tek or LAH-tek.Donald E. Knuth encourages pronunciation as LAY-tek.Leslie Lamport says any pronunciation can be used.Modern trends suggest pronunciation as LAY-tekh.

Compiling the LaTeX code
The compilation can be done withlatex - produces DVI filespslatex - produces PS filespdflatex - produces PDF files
If the name of the file is mypaper.tex the command lines are:latex mypaper.tex
pslatex mypaper.tex
pdflatex mypaper.tex
LaTeX editors like TeXnicCenter, WinEdt, TeXworks, Kile,TeXStudio automatically run these commands based on the
preferences set.
