days.

It’s been another wonderful

term at Nowendoc Public and

the children (and staff) de-

serve a well earned break.

Our term 3 calendar is al-

ready filling up fast so have

fun in the holidays, enjoy

your family time and be safe.

Keep smiling!

Flu, fire and frozen pipes

have certainly caused a stir

for our last couple of weeks

of term.

At least we can say the chil-

dren of Nowendoc have had

a diverse range of hot and

cold experiences to help pre-

pare them for any unex-

pected surprises!

Thank you to the children for

coping so well and to the

parents for their understand-

ing. Thanks also to the terrific

staff here for their flexibility,

humour and support.

Amidst all the mayhem , we

have spent a very enjoyable

day at Niangala to celebrate

NAIDOC Day. Aboriginal

Consultants and Elders, from

Tamworth led us through

rotations highlighting Dream-

ing stories, Boomerang

Throwing, Johnny Cakes on

the campfire and Totem

Painting. Thank you to par-

ents for helping with

transport.

Tracey Worth and the chil-

dren’s creative entry into the

Waste into Art competition

received a certificate. I found

their chosen topic highly

amusing as it revealed in-

sights into the children’s

learning. We have had a

couple of litterbugs creep into

the school and the school

bus this term, resulting in

many discussions about re-

specting the environment. I

do hope Max enjoys the pho-

tos of their creation.

Despite the frost and chilly

weather of late our vegetable

garden continues to thrive.

Children will be arriving home

on Friday afternoon with a

selection of greens for fami-

lies to enjoy during the holi-

I was very impressed with

the effort students put into

their class entry for the Wal-

cha Councils, Waste into

Art competition. All seven

students were major con-

tributors to the artwork,

working as a team to get it

completed in time. Their

entry was called “Snug

Bugs” and was made en-

tirely from recycled materi-

als, as was the criteria for

the competition. The stu-

Lana’s Friendship Poster

Now and Then By Lana Clifford

Now I go to school,

Then I went to preschool.

Now I carry big loads of wood,

Then I carried a doll.

Now I play with my DSi,

Then I played with teddies.

Now I have a calf,

Then I had a pet spider.

Now I am living on a farm,

Then I lived in the city.

Now I live with two brothers and one sister,

Then I lived with only one brother.

Now I am in grade four,

Then I didn’t go to school.

Now I walk,

Then I crawled.

Now I am a big girl,

Then I was a little toddler.

Now I am ten years old,

Then I was four years old.

Mary’s Birthday

My mum is like Wonder Woman,

She can do anything,

Cook things, wash things and love me.

My mum is as tall as a giraffe,

And as loving as a chimp,

Small, comfy and smart.

My mum is like a robot,

Looking after me each day,

Busy as a bee.

My mum has a voice like a harmony of angels,

Always protective,

And making me happy.

She cares for me like a lion,

Keeping me safe.

My mum is wonderful...

Because she is my mum!

When Echidna Came to School

At recess, on Monday, we saw an echidna. We went to look at him eating some ants.

Then he started walking and we followed him to the sandpit. He went past the vegie

patch, across the playground and stopped at the sandpit. We watched the echidna and

then we took photos of him. I liked it when the echidna was lying sunbaking next to the

pot.

Emily, year 1

An echidna was going past the steps. Then the other echidna smelt some ants and they

smelt delicious so he went looking for them. He ate one and then he accidentally got

one stuck up his nostril. Then he went crazy, lying on his back and wriggling and wrig-

gling.
