“THE TRUE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS”
Heartfelt thanks to all those who gave of their time and talent this Christmas Season, namely: our Adult and Bell Choirs for their beautiful gift of music; our Liturgy Committee for the lovely decorations in and outside our Church; our Communion Ministers for bringing Jesus to the homebound and elderly; our faithful parishioners for delivering flowers and greetings to those una-ble to join us this year, the Prayer Shawl Ministry for providing much needed love and warmth, and all Ministers of the Altar (Altar Servers, Bread Bakers, Cantors, Lectors, Parking Attendants, our sacristan; Beverly Harostock, Ministers of Hospi-tality and Ministers of Communion) for their dedi-cated service to God’s people.
May the newborn Christ Child, born of Mary, bless you with His presence and His peace, at Christmas and always!
Father Jim

A PRAYER FOR CHRISTMAS
Lord of light, shine on us; Lord of peace, dwell in us; Lord of might, protect us; Lord of love, enfold us;
Lord of wisdom; enlighten us. Then, Lord, let us
go out as your witnesses, in obedience to your command;
to share the good news of your mighty love for us
in the gift of your son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. A men.

Ministers of Communion, Lectors & Altar Servers:
A new liturgical schedule for the months of Janu-ary to April 2018 is ready and can be viewed and printed from our church web site at www.stthereses-shavertown.com under schedules or, for those without access to a computer, a paper copy can be found in the church sacristy. Also there are phone lists and mass preferences for finding substitute ministers in the sacristies. Thank you.
Volunteers Needed
Any M-F parishioner, 18 years of age or older, interested in serving at funeral masses, is asked to contact Fr. Jim for details and training information. To assist you in your decision, most of our funerals are scheduled at 10:00 o’clock on weekday or Saturday mornings.
The Sign of Peace and the Distribution of the Eucharistic Wine
Due to the flu epidemic, it has been suggested that we dispense with shaking hands at the “Sign of Peace”, and with the distribution of the Eucharistic Wine. As soon as the epidemic ends, we will re-sume these liturgical practices. Meanwhile, please note that Jesus is present, body, soul, and divinity, whole and entire, in the Eucha-ristic Bread. Thank you for your acceptance and consideration of this matter.
Father Jim
2018 Children’s Envelopes Children’s offertory envelopes have been distributed but are still available by calling Terri at the Rectory office: 570-696-1144. Please recycle any un-used 2017 envelopes. Thank you.

Christmas Contributions
Your generosity to the Christmas collection is deeply appreciated and much needed this year. Rising expenses are challenging our parish's financial status at this time. Your “year-end” donation will help us to over-come this problem and face the New Year with optimism and stability. Thank you.
Dear Father Paisley and Members of St. Therese’s Parish Family,
Thank you for all the ways St. Therese’s has supported Mercy Services. We appreciate the backpacks which you gave us in August, the Thanks-giving food cards, and the wonderful presents from the Advent Giving Tree. A special thank you to all those from your parish who organized and delivered these contributions to our families. I know this is a labor of love. The Sisters of Mercy and the families we serve wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Sincerely, Sister Lucille Brislin, RSM
10 Great Dates to ENERGIZE your Marriage (A program to help spark
romance with memory making evenings)
Dates are held the fourth Saturday of each month, beginning January 27th. Topics do not build on each other. Therefore, you do not need to attend every month to benefit and you do not need to commit to all 10 dates.
Dates start at 6:30 pm in Father Sammons Hall. The night begins with a 15 minute DVD, before you leave for your personal date. Date ideas in-clude dinner, taking a walk, taking a drive, etc. An-ything that will allow discussion time with each other.
There is no fee to attend, and the Parish will pro-vide the accompanying book for free.
Childcare will be available. When r egister ing, ask Terri for a suggested list of Babysitters who will be happy to come to your home and look after the little ones.
“It’s never too early or too late to start dating your spouse again”
Please RSVP by Monday, January 22nd Terri Besecker, Parish Secretary at (570) 696-1144
