ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED
Faithful Navigator Message
Brother Sir Knights
I am very Proud and Honored to be the Current Faithful Navigator for the St. John Neumann Assembly #933, following in the footsteps of
the Past Faithful Navigators before me, as I will continue to bring integrity and honor to the 4th Degree arm of our order and to our Assembly.
Being a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Color Corps is something that I hold very close to my Heart along with being
associated with a great team of assembly officers.
The Color Corps is the Visual Arm of the Knights of Columbus. We are noticed by the public and the Church by our Tuxedoes, Capes,
Swords and those Fuzzy Hats. This is what the people remember most about us from seeing us at Church functions and parades. A lot has
changed over the past couple of years regarding the change in Regalia, as a “New” Uniform has been mandated by Supreme, and the long-
established traditional Regalia will soon be retired in June 2019.Remember our Core Principals as being Sir Knights: Charity, Unity, Fraternity
and Patriotism. This should not change regardless of the type of Regalia and or Uniform that we wear. We are here to support God, Church, Com-
munity and Country.
St. John Neumann Assembly 4th Degree members participate in the March for Life in Washington; Local Pro-Life Events; Veteran Home
Visits; serve as Chalice Guards for our Deceased Brother Knights; Church Color Corps; as well as Community and Patriotic Events.
Please consider attending an upcoming St. John Neumann Conclave and surround yourself with other Sir Knights and with our good works.
Vivat Jesus
Fraternally Yours
Sir Knight Anthony M. Poretta
Faithful Navigator

My Brother Knights;
I’ll be assuming responsibility for the Patriot in the
2018-2019 fraternal year. I’d like to thank SK and Faithful
Purser Matt Kresz for his years of service and devotion to
the newsletter and wish both he and his family continued
good health in the future.
As Brother Matt previously stated, this is the last
Patriot being disbursed via US Mail. Future editions will
only be distributed via email. Anyone one who wants to
continue receiving the newsletter and hasn’t already done
so, should contact me by email at donodan3@gmail.com.
Please do so ASAP so you can stay up to date on future SJN
Assembly activities. Vivat Jesus.

Friar’s Message
Brothers all,
History does repeat itself, and the recent news of allegations of sexual abuse, perpetrated by several priests in six dioceses in Pennsylvania, is a painful re-minder of the 2005 and 2011 grand jury reports about alleged perpetrators in our local Church. I am deeply saddened and disappointed because of the actions of a few brother priests and some bishops. The truly sad re-ality is the overwhelming harm such actions bring upon the victims, their family members, and Catholics, be-cause, in my opinion, priests and bishops are appropri-ately held to higher moral standards than other persons. Such actions, performed in private, and with a “seal of secrecy,” cause grave public scandal, and historically weaken or shatter the faith of many. While I do not have the right to judge these priests and the bishops who had allegedly chosen to be indifferent to complaints about their behavior, I am plainly sad because the evil one, the prince of lies, is a victor. Brothers, our membership in the Knights of Colum-bus calls us to great responsibilities, including Charity, Fraternity, Patriotism, and Unity. When the God-given gift of faith falls prey to the evil one, who is victorious when an individual is harmed, the unity of believers is compromised, and the victims of harm do not experience charity. I ask each of you to be more public in living the Catholic faith; be more prayerful, more forgiving, kinder in your words and actions. Be willing to listen to a wounded Catholic whose faith is at least weakened, and perhaps shattered by yet other scandals. Pray for all Church representatives, especially Archbishop Chaput, his Auxiliary Bishops, priests, and deacons who are the clergy. Please pray for all victims of clergy sexual abuse and for their perpetrators. Your characteristic support of the Catholic Church is necessary and beneficial all the time, perhaps especially when history repeats itself. Vivat Jesus, Father Mike Davis Faithful Friar

Knights of Columbus Silver Rose
Mass and Rosary
As a way to Honor Our Lady of Guadalupe and Promote the PRO-LIFE Cause
The Knights of Columbus Silver Rose will be coming through the Diocese of Philadel-
phia and stopping at Our Lady of Calvary Parish on its journey from Canada, through the U.S.
and into Mexico.
All are welcome to join us, the Knights of Columbus Council 4921 Regina Coeli, for a
Special Night Mass and Rosary on September 6, 2018 starting at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Cal-
vary Church.
The Silver Rose was started in dedication to Saint Juan Diego and his meeting with Our
Lady and the Miracle of the Roses. Today, the Silver Rose is the perfect program for the
Knights of Columbus to be involved in because not only is it a way to honor Our Lady, but it
also reaffirms our dedication to the sanctity of human life. We call it “One Life, One Rose” as
it is now a PRO-LIFE emblem as well in a society with very radically available abortions. We
hope that when people see this, they will think and pray for an end of abortion.
The Miracle of the Roses
Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego on top of a hill and told him to tell the Bishop that
she desires a church to be built at the site of her appearance. After hearing the request, the
Bishop asked Juan Diego to bring him a sign from Mary to prove that it is Her desire that the
church be built. Mary then instructed Juan Diego to the top of the mountain and pick roses
that were foreign to Mexico. Juan gathered the roses in his poncho and brought them to Mary
who arranged them and said for him to take them to the bishop. Juan Diego went to see the
Bishop and opened his poncho to present the roses. When Juan Diego opened his poncho,
not only did the beautiful roses fall out but, on the poncho, itself was a beautiful image of Our
Lady of Guadalupe, which is still able to be see
Hoping to see you and your family on Sept. 6th 7pm.
