Paid the ransom price1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT) 18  For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19  It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

He gave up his life for her 26  to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27  He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish.
