Background (the Chauhans, et.
al)
The 11th C. passed without further invasions inIndia, because, after the death of Mahmud, some Muslims advisors in Arabia lost interest forIndia and wanted to focus in Persia.
This was gladly taken by some Indian families, like the Chauhan, who by mid 12th C. hadcontrolled the territory around Delhi.
Their historians claimed that they had thriven
the Muslims out of Indian territory, althoughfacts suggest that they simply came to dominatewhat the Arabs and Turks left.

expanded to form a bigger one at costs of theKanauj) and Malwa (absorbed by this latter)

The Slave dynasty
The alliance was able to defeat Muhammad in firstinstance in the First Battle of Tarain (1191).
Muhammad, reorganizing his troops stroke back.
His military tactics were in 1192 too much for the
100,000 miserable Indian souls that fell straight tohell (Hazan Nizami).
The Turks easily defeated the Indians, after anultimatum, in the 2nd Battle of Tarain.
Several ideological factors (social, political, militaryand religious) played a role in the easy victory of theMuslims over the Indians.
