Important peopleWilliams family including Reverend Williams, Eunice Williams, Eunice’s Mother, Samuel, Stephan, Esther and Warham

*Everything begun the night of February 29th 1704 when the Williams home was invaded by the English and all of them were kidnapped

Important Facts

*Eunice who was six years old played an important role in this story.*The English colonists and Mohawk warriors took her as captive and named her Marguerite Kanenstenhawi Arosen*They moved to Canada with many other captives

*Captives were sold to the French *Later on John Williams and most of their children were negotiated to be released and returned home*Just one of his children remained in the hands of the Indians who didn’t want to sell her

*Most captives were baptized Catholic by the Indians*They named her Marguerite

*Later on, Eunice’s father and one of her brothers consistently tried to make her come back home to Massachusetts*Everything was in vane

*As time passed by, Eunice felt more comfortable living with the Indians*She married a native Indian named Francois-Xavier Arosen*They created a family together

Continuation…*Eunice stopped speaking English to the point that she totally forgot it*Her father John Williams was really sad about the fact that her daughter had forgotten her origins and family*Still she didn’t want to see or visit her father or brothers

*After John Williams died, Eunice finally agreed on visiting two of her brothers living in New England, accompanied by her husband of course*First visit was held on 1740*They communicated only with the help of a translator.
