THEODORE BILBOBilbo was involved in many scandals and accounts of voting fraud.Even with all the scandals, the people of Mississippi voted on him for senator and lieutenant governor.Bilbo became governor of Mississippi in 1916.He was a lot like Vardaman. He had some racist views, and he supported poor, white farmers.

HENRY WHITFIELDWhitfield ran for governor against Bilbo in 1924.Whitfield expected to have the edge because women were voting for the first time. He won the election.He said that education was the state’s salvation
