--From Kathy Owens, “A big thank you to all who donated blood to the December
blood drive. Thirteen pints were given by our West Side family.”
--Food Pantry Needs: canned meat, syrup, pancake mix, cereal, canned fruit.
--Needed: Monetary donations for the Christmas baskets. This money will help
buy the perishables that round out the food baskets. See Kendall and see you
on the 16th.
-- Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on! ‘Twas not given for thee alone.
Pass it on! Let it travel down the years. Let it wipe another’s tears,
till in heaven the deed appears. Pass it on!
If you are a friend of mine, be true;
Forgive, if I offend;
For things I say and things I do--
Forgive, if you’re a friend.
To err is human, that you know;
Forgiveness is divine;
And, if I wrong you, tell me so,
If you’re a friend of mine.
So many hide the little hurts
Until old friends, it parts,
How much of pain we might avert
If we just open our heart.
If it’s a careless way we go,
With thoughtless word or sign;
So, if I wrong you, tell me so,
If you’re a friend of mine.
And, though the thoughtless thing I do,
(And souls are sensitive)
We are not perfect, I or you,
To love, we must forgive.
For such, the friendship that endures
Again, the sun will shine--
And, I shall be a friend of yours,
And, you, a friend of mine.

There is a Way that Seems Right (Proverbs 14:12) “There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death.” So many times, in our lives, we choose a way or path that isn’t God-approved. We do this because it “seems” or “feels” right. This can be very damaging, spiritually speaking, to our-selves and others. How would any of us know what is right or wrong without consulting God and His word first? Peter so often went down a path of his own choosing before com-ing to his senses. But, he made a very profound and wise statement when answering Jesus about leaving Him. “But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord to whom shall we go’: You have the words of life’” (John 6:68).
We need to ask ourselves this when facing tough situations. Will we go with what is popu-lar? Will we go with our feelings? We must turn to the Lord and His word. Many deci-sions have a consequence not only for us but for others around us. What would Jesus do? That is a valid question when we are in a decision-making process. Will our actions be hurt-ful to others while trying to satisfy ourselves? What are our motives as we decide the ways or paths we will take? Matthew 7:12 (the golden rule) should be considered when decisions we make involve other people.
Of course, we are not talking about decisions about buying homes or cars. We are talking about decisions we make while interacting with others. Actions, we take and words we say, must be measured against the good of all. When dealing with our brethren, we must act carefully and speak with love. Our actions should be thought out. Paul makes a wonderful, logical and Christian-like statement (Phil 2:3): “Let nothing be done through selfish ambi-tion or conceit but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than himself.”
Let us always seek a way that is right and not one that seems right. The footsteps of Jesus will never lead us astray. Look to the Master for what we should do and the correct attitude that we should possess. Our spiritual future and, possibly that of others hang in the balance.

Scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, ask turtle to carry him across a river. “Are you crazy? You’ll sting me while I’m swimming and I’ll drown.” said turtle.
“Oh my, really?” laughed scorpion, "If I sting you, we will both drown. Where is the logic in that?”
“You’re so right. Hop on.” replies turtle.
Scorpion climbed aboard and halfway through the swim, gave turtle a mighty sting.
As they sank to the bottom, turtle was re-signed, “You said there would be no logic in stinging me. Why, then, did you do it?”
“It has nothing to do with logic,” the drown-ing scorpion replied. “It’s just my character.”
