One old fellow seems quite upse t over something. Yes, a circle of nis wives and children about - him and he’s squawking in a most excited manner. Let us assume th a t we understand turkey language and we shall hear w hat Pa Turkey is ta lk ing about.Here is w hat he's saying.

“Come here and finish your corn, Tillie Turk. If you don’t, you may get what I dreamed about last night.1 was a t one of those grand dinners that the Americans give oi* Thanks­giving. But L didn't look the way 1 do now. No sir! 1 was all stuffed with something sticky they calleddressing and my sides were all brown.1 looked around and soon found tha t 1 was on a huge table. Around me were dishes of mashed potatoes,squash, cabbage salad, cranberrysauce and pickles. I began to feel sick. W as I to share the fa te of all those things th a t hum ans ea t?

“ Must be! Oh heaven! There was a whole crowd of people coming into the dining room. There was Mr. H ig­gins and Mrs. Higgins and Ned. Grandma and Grandpa Higgins and Uncle Will and A unt Jenny and Miss Hammond were trouping. along be­hind. A fter grace was said Ned com­menced to yell, ‘Ginnne a laig, gimme a laig, I want both laigs.’ A kick under the table served to reduce Ned’s appetite for legs to only one. My! was 1 gra tefu l to Mrs. Higgins for tha t kick. However I began to think th a t Mrs, Higgins had purposes of her own when she allowed Ned to have only one because she took my other leg. .meat. Miss Hammond, inclined to think herself humorous, said, 'Did th a t bird have any wings? They say every pa r t s trengthens a part, so I ’d better s ta r t growing wings now be­cause a f te r I die my chances will be all g-one.’

“ Well, my m eat was all gone. I hoped they'd leave my bones to re s t in peace. But no! Rover had to have a Thanksgiving dinner too. “He got gtfy bones. And that, Tillie Turk, is w hat will happen to..you unless you are a good little turkey-girl.”

J u s t as I was entering the little towh of “ Sw artzenburg” in “ Stein- fe l t” county, Texas, the shouts of the villagers, who were crowding the s t r e e t s , a ttracted my attention ‘.‘N u tta l l” but more than half of them w ere shouting “ Lynch” 'im! “ Lynch” ’im. A fte r struggling through the crowd 1 found th a t the victim was Governor “M ailin ’’ who was held by the shoulder by the strong large arm s of General “Coffee”, Commander of the Texas S ta te Troopers.

I asked a colored “ Butler” who was s tand ing beside me w hat the trouble was. The reply was, “ Well, you know ‘De Land’ west of de rivva bwanch, well, there was a big lion in de ‘Ryon’ Zoo and the govennah, he don “T u rn e r” loose into de street. In “ Nolan” awaund did ah ebba see a bigga.Mion.”

A nother man told me the lion was shot and killed by Captain “Johnson” of the police squad. The “ Young” lion was thrown, into the “ Bickle" Creek, “Jessup” the “ Sw ift” “ Law­rence” river.

By the time Governor Martin was ex tracted from the crowd, he had a “ Zomows.”

One occasionally sees a building soiled w ith ' chalk m arks, pictures draw n on the walls ahd desks hacked and disfigured. * "A studen t who will re so r t to tricks such as these is an enemy to a school and should be shun­ned by a ll self-respecting boys and girls. Such conduct, is a m ark of low s tan d a rd s and not a symbol of sm a r t­ness as some boys seem to feel. School buildings a re erected and equipped a t g rea t cost and purs6s of tho paren ts of the school children. Boys and. girls, the building and equipm ent belong to you. You h u r t yourself f a r m ore than you h u r t the teacher when you disfiguro them.

Well, well, well. And another great big crowd knows th a t we really can have a good tim e and a lot of fun a t a Tea Dance!

Operations began a t 3:30 and there was no urging needed to dance. ‘ The floor was well filled but not crowded and the bleachers were appreciated by those who couldn't dance, those who were “ too tired to dance,” those happy gentlemen who were cut in on and, between dances, by all concerned. Candy was sold by the Juniors and seemed to be appreciated by all who had the necessary jiickels. The last dance, consisting of five pieces, wound up a t 5:30 a f te r which we sallied forth into very damp weather. However, I 'm sure th a t everybody enjoyed themselves more than enough to over­come that, and th a t another Tea Dance will be as well attended and appreciated as this one.
