much as possible to enhance instruction. Some of the apps
we have been loving are...
Dragonbox+ (learn algebra concepts conceptually and at your own
pace)
MathDoodles (math puzzles where students can play and experiment
with math concepts, while developing and strengthening strategy and
problem solving skills)
Popplet (graphic organizer tool that allows user to record thoughts and
sort them visually)
Hands-On Equations (supports our traditional Hands-On Equation ma-
terials, which use manipulatives to simplify complex algebra concepts)
Sushi Monster (practice and extend math fact fluency)
Motion Math Zoom (explore place value concepts)
iMovie (movie making app 5th graders are currently working on Math
Olympiad movie trailers!)
Nearpod (interactive synchronized multimedia presentations)
Pages (user-friendly word processing)
iBooks (3rd Graders are completing a novel study with eBooks!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH to parents who have contributed iTunes gift cards!
Your generosity is benefitting students every day!
MATH OLYMPIAD Math Olympiad is underway! Math
Olympiad is a challenging problem-
solving competition for 4th-6th Grad-
ers. We had great success with our
first challenge11 students achieved
perfect scores, a feat accomplished by
only 7% of 5th Graders and 3% of 4th
Graders worldwide! Congrats go out
to 5th Graders Albert Bright, Haley
Frye, Marshall Graham, Grant Mayes,
and Ariana Conway, and 4th Graders
Warner Allred, Alexander Green, An-
drew Feira, Graham Kirby, Nikolaus
Heiser, and Peter Stenger.
In Decembers contest, we had 5 more
perfect scores 5th Graders Ryan
Lampe, Mitch Porter, Julia Leeman and
Erin Readling, as well as 4th Grader
Peter Stenger (with his second perfect
score of the year.) Only 5% of 4-6th
graders reached this goal. Incredible!
