What is Project Inshore?

• Project Inshore is a tool to assess and feed into the management of

all English fisheries within IFCA districts.

• Project consists of 3 stages,

1. Fishery Analysis

2. MSC Pre-Assessments

3. Sustainability Reviews

• It will use the globally recognised MSC pre-assessment process as an

independent assessment of what is happening on the ground.

• The pre-assessments will then feed in to develop Sustainability

Reviews to feed into current management practices.

• To overcome the market barriers to small scale fisheries engaging in the MSC process.

• All inshore fisheries considered against a consistent framework of common criteria.

• Develop sustainability reports enabling multi-track progress and harmonised approaches.

• To recognise where management is working and feed into areas which could be improved upon.
