How to Save MoneyHow do YOU save money?

Where do you keep your money? Bank

Piggy Bank

BanksWhen you put your money in a bank, the bank holds and keeps track of gains and losses of your money.

When you put your money in the bank, you can withdraw (get your money back) or deposit (put more money in) with ease.

Piggy BankBy keeping a piggy bank (a place where you keep your money at home), you can always access your money.

Also, by keeping your money with you, you are able to count how much money you have or how much you are saving.

How to Spend MoneyWhat do YOU spend money on?Where do you spend money?

Scarcity Taxes

ScarcityScarcity comes from the word “scarce” which means a “lack of.”

Goods and services are “scarce” because people have unlimited wants and needs.

Scarcity refers to the lack of goods and services because people have too many wants and needs.

TaxesA Tax: is a fee that is charged by the government.

This tax is put directly on a person’s income (or money that you made).

The government uses taxes to construct buildings, pave roads and help the community.

Wants v. NeedsWhat are the differences between wants and needs? Please look through the different wants and different needs on the next few slides

Wants

Needs

The Trade Game“Chutes and Ladders”

You want to enter a bike race with your friends, but you need to buy a really cool

bike first!

You have 1 month to

save $31 for the new bike

you want!

Your Mom promised to give you $.50 everyday this month, but that won’t be enough for the bike at the end of the month!

Throughout the month you will be earning and spending money. Please write on the power point how much you spend and earn and why.

For example:I would like you to write something like this;

I gained $3 because I found extra money in my pocketOr I received $5 because I helped grandma in the kitchen. OrI lost $4 because I bought baseball cards

Have fun and

good luck!
