Transitive VerbA transitive verb is a verb that NEEDS a direct object.Ex: The shelf holds three books and a vase of flowers.

Intransitive VerbsIntransitive verbs are verbs that DON’T need a direct object.Ex: Juanita immigrated to the United States.

Now for some more examples!

Example 1Juanita had emigrated from Mexico.

Example 2The lawyer prosecuted 3 murderers and 2 thiefs.

Example 3The ingenious artisan made vases and figurines that resembled the Renaissance.
