Haiti facts

Infant Mortality – Almost one out of 10 dies as an infant Average life expectancy

Men = 48 Women = 51

Average income per year is $500 According to United Nations Survey 62% of Haitians suffer

from malnutrition Surveys by Trinity/HOPE mission teams show the average

child gets a meal at home about every other day A world survey says the people of Haiti live further from

clean water than any other people in the world About 65% practice Voodoo 35% are Christian up in the last decade from 20%

The children are desperate

Without a Trinity/Hope feeding program, they spend the day at school with nothing to eat

9 of 10 children come to school without having had anything to eat

Only half of the children will have anything to eat at home at the evening meal. Only one of them will have enough to feel satisfied

5 out of 10 children have nothing to eat at home in any 24 hour day

Many houses are made of sticks, mud and palm fronds.

Even worse housing—none earthquake proof

Sanitation and medical care are often non-existent

Families have no food stockpiled—they buy for that day if they have the money

People eat dirt cakes. Mining the special soil for them. March 2009, Hinche, Haiti

When the earthquake struck Trinity/HOPE was already providing a meal each day for over TEN THOUSAND children and their teachers in 65 schools.
