FARM SAFETY DAY 2019

Education Week Last week was extremely busy. On Thursday we celebrated Education Week at Coolah Central School and across the state of NSW. On Friday we participated in the Farm Safety Day. I would like to thank the parents, carers and community members
who attended these events, especially the volunteers who ran activities at the Farm Safety Day. I would also like to acknowledge our dedicated staff who coordinated these events and our amazing students who participated with enthusiasm.
I have recently been informed that drought assistance to maintain staffing at 2018 levels will again be in place for 2020. This means that we should be able to maintain 6 classes for K-6 next year. (Note that our projected numbers are 117 students. In normal times we need
130 students for an additional, 6th, class.) Secondary numbers are slightly higher at 110 students for 2020. Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Western Region Secondary Principal’s Conference in Cobar. Secondary and Central School Principal’s from across the west of NSW met to discuss current educational initiatives and reforms. It’s always great to talk with colleagues to hear about the successes of other schools, how they operate and gain a greater perspective of public education across the state. Coolah Central School is certainly a great place to work.
As always I can be contacted at the school should anyone have concerns.
Principal News with Mr Hughes
Welcome to week 4 and what a fabulous week we’ve just had. The Education Week Celebrations and our Farm Safety Day were both excellent and the students, parent and community participation exceeded expectations. Students looked great in their uniforms on Thursday as
they proudly accepted awards on our Education Week assembly. It was wonderful to hear about the really positive contributions that so many of them make to both the school and to our community. On Friday at the Farm Safety Day the community certainly gave back and it was so fantastic to see so many willing volunteers committed to getting the importance of farm safety across to our student. The P and C went above and beyond with their catering efforts. I thank you all so much.
This week we have Year 10 out on work experience, our Responsible Pet Ownership session and Primary
Zone Athletics. There is a never a dull moment here and we as a school are incredibly lucky to have the very wide array of activities available to us. Have a great week.
