Mission StatementMission StatementMission StatementMission Statement The parishes of Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Thomas More are Roman Catholic Communities that worship and live in faith. Nourished by the Sacraments, Scripture, and a diversity of individual gifts, we understand that our mission comes from Jesus Christ
who calls us to teach, to preach, to serve those in need, and to be a presence of Christ in the world.
PrayersRequested:Please pray for the individuals who have requested our prayers: Mary Jean Castellano, Christine Barry Comito, Liz Drew, Howard Graff, Ruth Haubner,

A commentator on this weekend’s readings recalled how in
ancient Peru, before the days of the “marauding Spaniards, the Inca’s
method of conquest was to overcome people with kindness. They
would enter a region with an overabundance of gifts, which served as
signs of what people could expect if they would become part of the
Inca realm.
Feasts and banquets, festive celebration and social
gatherings with fine foods and beverages have been around for
centuries and used for many purposes. Perhaps that is why both the
prophet Isaiah and Jesus made use of this powerful sign. Isaiah
speaks of God “providing for all peoples a feast of rich foods and
choice wines, juicy rich foods and pure, choice wines” (Is. 25:6).
The prophet describes a feast on a high peak prepared by God for all
humanity. It is planned for people who have been trapped by
tragedy: natural disasters, wars, violence which has left them
devastated. It is a feast for people guilty of everything human beings
can imagine, who are scared, and yet, God invites them to come and
“wipes away every tear from their face.”
In describing the kingdom of heaven, Jesus likens it to a
king who puts on a wedding feast for his son. He prepares
everything and sends out his servants to summon the invited guests.
But they refused to come. So the king tries again, and sends out his
servants a second time. This time the invited guests ignore his
invitation, some mistreat and even kill the servants. The third time
the king sends his servants out to the main roads and instructs them
to invite whomever they find. So the bad and the good fill the
festive hall of the king – in that order, to make clear that people are
not invited because of their own merits but rather because of the
gratuitous goodness of God.
Reflecting on these readings two thoughts came to mind:
First, whenever a session of ChristLife is held a meal is always
served. All who have accepted the invitation to come gather around
a table sharing scrumptious food, which over the past two weeks has
been prepared and donated by Stephen and Beverly Sabin – for
which we are most grateful. Those who come, however, share not
only a meal but also something of themselves: their knowledge, their
experiences, their faith, their joys and sorrows, hopes and fears.
Those present are nurtured and nourished by the presence of the
Spirit that binds us all as brothers and sisters united in Christ Jesus,
our Lord. Secondly, I’m reminded of a gathering hymn that speaks
of God’s invitation:
Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty!
God will provide for all that we need here at the table of plenty. O
come and sit at my table, where saints and sinners are friends. I wait
to welcome the lost and lonely to share the cup of my love. Come to
the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will
provide for all that we need here at the table of plenty. O come and
eat without money; come to drink without price. My feast of gladness
will feed your spirit with faith and fullness of life.
See you as we gather at the feast and table of the Lord. Margaret
We graciously welcome all new parishioners and visitors to our community. To register please fill out a “request card” available at church entrances. Please drop it in the collection basket or at the office. A member of our pastoral
staff will contact you to complete your registration.

GREEN CORNER
CARE FOR CREATION
As the cooler weather arrives you
may want to take some advice from
energy.gov:
●Open curtains on your south-facing windows during the day to allow sunlight to naturally heat your home,
and close them at night to reduce the chill you may
feel from cold windows. ●Cover drafty windows by using a heavy-duty, clear
plastic sheet on a frame or tape clear plastic film to the inside of your window frames during the cold winter
months. Make sure the plastic is sealed tightly to the frame to help reduce infiltration.
●Install tight-fitting, insulating drapes or shades on
windows that feel drafty after weatherizing. ●When you are home and awake, set your thermostat
as low as is comfortable. When you are asleep or out of the house, turn your thermostat back 10° to 15° for
eight hours and save around 10% a year on your
heating and cooling bills. A programmable thermostat can make it easy to set back your temperature. If you
have a heat pump, maintain a moderate setting or use a programmable thermostat specially designed for use
with heat pumps.
Second Collection - Next Weekend
World Mission Sunday Next week, we will celebrate World Mission Sunday.
Each year, the entire Church is invited to support the young mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific
Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, where
priests, religious and lay leaders to serve some of the poorest of the poor. This year, we are invited to “Chat
With The Pope” to learn more about his missions. Scan this year’s World Mission Sunday poster using
Facebook Messenger for your mobile device, or learn more at ChatWithThePope.org. Please keep the
Missions in your prayers and be generous in next
week’s collection for the Society for the Propogation of the Faith.
We’re looking for volunteers to help out serving
dinner at the House of Mercy on the 3rd Thursday of
each month. If you’d like to be added to the list of
volunteers please email gkindlon@rochester.rr.com.

God really does provide for those who are grateful and generous. This
is very difficult for people that don’t live a stewardship lifestyle to
believe. People are skeptical and say it’s just coincidence. If you are skeptical,
try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts
of time, talent and treasure and see how God provides for your needs.
“My God will supply whatever you need…” - PHILIPPIANS 4:19
