TYPES OF NOUNS

WHAT ARE NOUNS?

A noun is a word for a person, place, or thing.

EXAMPLE

PEOPLE ANIMALS PLACES OBJECTS SUBSTANCES QUALITIES

soldier rat house table lead kindness

Alan zebra London frame nitrogen beauty

cousin lion factory printer water bravery

Frenchman monkey shelter chisel ice wealth

PROPER NOUNS & COMMON NOUNSProper nouns Name of people, places, things or ideas.They are always capitalized.Example : Aisyah

Common nouns General names for persons, places, things or ideas.Example : woman

EXAMPLE

Concrete NounsAnything that can be seen, heard, smelled, tasted, or touched.Example : pizza, wall, computer, etc.

Abstract NounsIf you cannot experience the item with any of your senses, it's abstract.Example : happiness(feelings), freedom(ideas), beauty(qualities), etc.

COUNTABLE & UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Countable nouns Are nouns that can be counted.

Uncountable Nouns Used with a singular verb. They usually do not have a plural form.
