OUR MISSION

Our goal is to create a map of the United States of America to assist elementary teachers. This map will supply a variety of labels dealing with the United States. The labels will consist of historic landmarks, oceans, regions, mountains, states and capitals. This project will be donated to Westside Elementary School for all teacher of different grades to use.

THE PLAN

We began to brainstorm about what we would do for our project and thought it would be interesting for the students to learn the significance of their country. We then decided to create a large interactive map of the United States. The objective of the map will be to teach all elementary

grades about

the aspects of the

United States.

TAKING ACTION

Our group began by discussing the actions it would take to create the map. Our next step was to buy all our material for the map and other supplies that were needed to complete the project. We then started creating the map and labels. After finishing the project we then reflected the process of our project into a power point, brochure, and web page.

WHAT WE LEARNED

This project has helped better prepare ourselves for our education career. We have improved our understanding of the Arkansas Social Studies curriculum for what is needed to be taught in elementary grades. This project is relevant in real life for the students to learn the different features of their country.

OUR REFLECTION

We hope that Westside Elementary enjoys learning from the map as much as we enjoyed making and putting it all together. This project has made an impact in our lives knowing that we are making a difference in many students lives. Because of the Arkansas Geography curriculum frameworks, this project was better prepared for a complete and final success.
