“Map” the variables

“Map” the variablesThis is a process where each variable used in

the Interview is shown

You have the option of “ignoring” or “importing”

If you “ignore” a variable, the system will do nothing with it

If you “import” a variable, the system needs to know where to store it

“Map” the variables

Variables from the Interview

What you want to do with them

Where they should go in the system

Ensure data consistencyReview the settings for your fields in Prime

Applicant Last Name is a string with 255 characters

Area code is a three digit numberZip code is a five digit numberCitizenship status is A, B, or C Income is a money amount (i.e., NOT

Entries in the Interview that do not conform to the settings in Prime can cause import problems

Understanding the process

An A2J Online Intake system gathers data from the applicant utilizing the A2J graphical interface

Understanding the process

Once finished, the A2J Online Intake system sends the generated XML Answer File to a special import page

Answer File

Understanding the process

The import page takes the Answer File and reads the data

Answer File

Variable Value

AppFName James

AppLName Spencer

AppAddress

1212 Mockingbird Lane

AppCity Springfield

AppState MO

AppZip 65805

Understanding the process

The import page works down through each variable and determines (from the mapping done earlier) where to store the information

Variable Value

AppFName James

AppLName Spencer

AppAddress 1212 Mockingbird Lane

AppCity Springfield

AppState MO

AppZip 65805

Understanding the process

The original answer file is copied into a special table for later review (in the event of a failed import)

The data is copied over to the online intake screening table

Staff can use the online intake system built into Prime to review conflicts and copy data to the Eligibility and Client Intake forms

Manual Import In the event of a

failure in the automatic import process, a manual import can be attempted

If the manual import fails, it may reveal where there are problems with the data being inconsistent with the fields in Prime
