Unit 2, Day 1 Copy the following vocabulary words:1. Determination- a quality that makes you continue trying

to do or achieve something that is difficult.2. Perseverance- the quality that allows someone to

continue trying to do something even though it is difficult.

3. Survive- to remain alive; to continue to live.4. Foreshadow- to give a hint of something that has not yet

happened.5. Hatchet- a small ax that has a short handle.

Look at the cover of the book. What kind of book do you think this is? Do you think it will be interesting?

Read Chapters 1 & 2 Foreshadowing: a suggestion of something that has not

yet happened. What are some examples of foreshadowing from the text

today? Whose point of view is the story told from?

This novel is narrated in the third person; however, the narrator conveys all of Brian Robeson's thoughts and feelings through the events in the novel.
