• Status and timescale

Cryogenics– Vertical test stand V3

Yesterday

Old separated lines

Warm up bath for pumping

Tomorrow

Welded connection

Common insulation vacuum

Integrated pumping

New cryostat with active screening and earth magnetic field compensation

Internal tubing with exchanger and valves

Surrounded by superinsulation

4 Cryo service modules in workshop oct.12

Internal section of the distribution line.Cold He return make screening of the liquid He delivery

V3,4,5,6 Cryo service modules welded in SM18

Cryogenics– Horizontal bunker M7

CCDTL

Dismantling old lines

Klystron• Operating frequency f0 : 704.4 MHz • Peak output power at saturation and load VSWR ≤ 1.05 ≥ 1.5 MW • Average output power at saturation and load VSWR ≤ 1.05 ≥ 150

kW • Operating point, below klystron saturation ≤ -1.5 dB • Saturated gain ≥ 40dB • Drive power max 200 Watts • Peak cathode voltage (Ub) at rated output power ≤ 115 kV • Peak cathode current (Ib) at rated output power ≤ 25 A • HV pulse duration 2 ms • HV rise & fall time (each) 80 - 150 μs • RF pulse duration (plateau) 1.7 ms 300 μs(LLRF)+1400 μs(Beam)• Repetition rate 50 Hz

Wave Guides• Integration in M7 well advanced (BE/RF, EN/MME (drawing office))

• Power distribution• Cryomodule (incl. slope)• New standard 2 kelvin service module

• Still to be done:• Detailed integration of cryomodule repair scenarios

• (i.e. how to lift the top cover of the CM?)

• Cabling (RF and Cryo)• SPL valve box to build

• Adaptation of Wave guides to module change of tilt

• Tests at 0% and 2 (4?) % slope:• Will require WG distribution modifications (1-2 hours)• CM lifting device to be defined

Status & timescale (1)• Procurement of equipment:

• Klystron (1x): 1.5 MWp ordered, delivery end Summer ‘13

• Circulator (1x): ordered, delivery Summer ’14 (on purpose, for budget reasons)

• RF loads (3x): 1.5MWp ordered, delivery January ’13

• Waveguides: special pieces (magic tees, bends, bellows) ordered at Mega Industries (USA) (≈50 k$) all straight parts from Spain (≈50 kEuros)

• Modulator: delivery expected by Fall’13 (tbc by D. Nisbet)

• Electrical power: 3*400V 300A reserved with 400A upgrade on ERD2/M18

Status & timescale (2)

• Key dates:

• Now -> March ‘13: SM18 Cryo distribution replacement • March -> End Summer ‘13: CCDTL tests (Linac 4) • September -> December ’13: SPL HPRF system installation

• Providing the L4 RF tests are moved in Bld150 (3 MeV test stand)? (tbc by F. Gehrig)

• Controls:

• HPRF controls: re-use the PLC system developed and installed for L4 test stand• Cryomodule:

• RF controls expected to be ready by 2014 ( L. Arnaudon )• Cryo controls to be defined ( TE/CRG ) Attention LS1 !

• Low level ?

Thanks for your attention
