What’s in the video camera kits?• Canon HD hard-drive video camera with flip out screen• External microphone with shock mount and hand grip• Tripod

3

Setting up the video• Here’s one we prepared

earlier…• Trickiest part is putting

both the microphone and camera onto the hand grip

• This then attaches to tripod as shown

• Turn on the little switch on the microphone!

• BYO headphones

4

Shooting your video• Prepare a storyboard first to

remind yourself what you need to shoot

• Prepare a script if needed to remind yourself what you need to say

• Keep the camera on tripod• Make sure you get enough

“coverage” of the action• Don’t forget close-ups

5

Transferring videos to computer• Camera connects via USB• Camera must be plugged in to

power to transfer files• Copy files to local hard drive for

editing (not network drive)• Copy the whole folder called

“AVCHD” – this holds the videos• If you take still photos they are

in the “DCIM” folder

6

Editing your video• Adobe Premiere Elements is software of choice• Open Premiere and import your videos• Add videos to timeline and trim each clip as required• Add titles where needed• Can create music with built-in SmartSound

7

• Add narration if you want to• Avoid flashy video effects• Save your work every five

minutes!

Export and share your video• You “Save” your project but you

must then “Export” your movie• Can export to many formats• Flexible output options• For online delivery you can

make your videos smaller• Built-in ability to export directly

to YouTube within Premiere
