Conclusion• MAFF needs NPP/VIIRS data of Japan and SE Asian region for

research continuity especially for forest fire detection and fishing boats monitoring of night time lights data.

• The fine VIIRS night time lights imagery is excellent!

• In this time, we checked the file names, imageries and HDF data structures, which are not simple for non experts.

• We are considering to use the CLASS system to obtain real time data.

Acknowledgments

Thank Dr. Chris Elvidge and Ms. Sharolyn Anderson of NOAA-NGDC for providing VIIRS sample datasets,

and Ms. Kimberly Baugh of CIRES, NOAA-NGDC for providing excellent ENVI plugins.

Thank you
