GUIDELINES FOR CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION (CLUB PLATES)
All NRVVCC members should familiarize themselves with the NSW RMS rules and club rules surrounding how to use your vehicles on Conditional registration, together with the requirement to carry certain documents in
the vehicle whenever it is being used. If you are on the log book trial, the RMS issued log book must be completed by the member before you use
the vehicle for anything other than NRVVCC club outings. Vehicles not on log book, the member should phone/email the secretary when a movement is needed for anything other than club outings.
Any member with vehicles(s) conditionally registered through the NRVVCC and who do not attend a minimum of three club events per calendar year (not including registration day & meetings) may be asked by
the committee to show cause as to why the club should sanction the renewal of their registration in the following year.

for a coffee & chat.

Wendy Wright, arrived in the 1927 Chev Tourer.
Ben Clift accompanied Allan Johnston in Allan’s 1934
Plymouth.

Jim & Robyn Hayward – 1929 Chrysler
Ron & Marilyn Hawkins – 1971 Holden
Chris & Narelle Loadsman – 1929 Chev

Many thanks to those who attended.

The white Golf has since been sold
McLEOD’S VOLKSWAGENS
My wife, Rosemaree & I recently joined the NRVVCC & we have been invited to share our Volkswagen
journey.
Our first type 2 was a Pop Top VW Camper conversion purchased second hand from Gary McCann
(McCann’s Car Sales) in 1974. We had many trips in it over the years but eventually our son & daughter grew
up & the Camper became a little cramped so we sold it.
We also owned a 1973 Superbug Type 1 (which was originally owned by Father McCarthy from Alstonville –
Heavenly Puddings founder) & so after 350,000 kms of trouble free motoring we reluctantly sold it. Both our
son & daughter learnt to drive in the beetle and I sometimes wonder how it survived. It was a very forgiving
car & is still owned locally.
Our present Type 2, 2 Litre Kombi (in German the word Kombi is short for Kombinationskraftwagen or
official designation Type 2) was purchased new in 1979 from McCann’s Car Sales in Lismore, the local
Volkswagen Dealership. It remains in original condition & one owner. It was one of only two Kombis, both
white, on the wharf in Sydney, so potentially it was the second last one of that shape to enter Australia before
the Type 3 was imported. It had no seats in the back & fixed windows. The windows were replaced with
sliding windows & we purchased specified Volkswagen seats for the middle & back row.
The Kombi has been used to move our daughter in & out of a Brisbane University accommodation, transport
furniture, timber, cement, turf & 8 people including Geoff & Elizabeth Campbell who braved it on occasions.
The Kombi has also towed a dual axle trailer extensively. After 327,000 kms trouble free motoring and it still
remains very useful & reliable. The Kombi has been used as a Wedding Car & for School Formals. We quite
often have notes with phone numbers left under the wiper blades asking if we want to sell it.
The Kombi was featured on the front page & page 7 of the 28th
– 29th
September 2013 Northern Star after
Volkswagen announced it was ceasing production of the Kombi at the end of 2013. Fortunately most body
panels & engine/gearbox parts are still available to keep them on the road. The elevated driving position
provides excellent visibility & the Kombi is easy & fun to drive.

Outing to Dungarubba – 17th
February, 2019
It was great to see such a good attendance at our
monthly outing for afternoon tea at Dungarubba
on the bank of the Richmond River. The afternoon
was a laid back social gathering of people with a
common passion - the love of cars & anything old.
As members arrived, chairs and picnic baskets
quickly filled the shaded area and mother nature
did her bit by supplying a cool breeze off the river.
30 Members, 4 visitors and 1 future member
attended.
Ron & Nancy Hambly – 1936 Plymouth
Norm & Kathleen Clapham – 1957 Lloyd
Chris & Narelle Loadsman – 1929 Chev

Bob Trevans Jeep at the Evans Head display on a very hot day.
Magic Trick in a Pastry Shop Two broke and hungry best friends, Dave and John, go into a pastry shop. Dave suddenly whisks three cookies into his pocket with lightening speed. The baker doesn’t notice. He says to John, ”See how clever I am? You’ll never beat that! “ John replies Oh yeah? Watch this.’ He says to the baker, ‘Give me a cookie, I can show you a magic trick!’ The baker hands him a cookie which he promptly eats. Then he says to the baker; ‘give me another cookie for my magic trick.’ The baker is getting suspicious but he gives it to him. He eats this one too. Then he says again; ‘Give me one more cookie’ …. He eats this one too. Now the baker is really mad, and he yells, ‘and where is your magic trick?! John points to Dave and says, “In that guy’s pocket!”
