Basic Necessities for All?: Challenging Environmental Injustice in North Carolina
Think all communities in America are created equal? Think again. Learn about environmental justice and health disparities that exist among communities based on where their people live and work. Join Branch Out Regional this Fall Break for a trip to the industrial “Research Triangle” of North Carolina to learn about and work with communities that lack basic necessities such as safe, running water, proper sanitation and even clean air. We will hear of the stories of members of these communities, volunteer with partners that strive to change these systemic injustices, and learn more about how environmental injustice is not just an international development issue. You might just be surprised how close to home these afflicted communities are to where you live!
