Creating Good Visuals

What works, what doesn’t, and how to maximize what you have.

Where are you holding your event?

What visual do you want people to remember?

Do you have compelling props?

Good props: signs, flags, banners, etc.

What is the backdrop for your pictures?

Faces + Signs = Great!

Families + Signs = Great!

What story do you want to tell? Do you have pics for press who contact you later?

Do you have control of your message?

This photo was taken at a Tea Party protest. A controversial sign that is off message is a magnet for media. Politely ask folks to stick with the theme so that everyone present is represented.

Is your message clear?

Unite HERE bake sale for union workers fired in a labor dispute. The bake sale is clear, but can you tell who it’s for?
